So, I took part in an ITV competition wordsearch and initially got a call telling me I’d won. The woman on the line asked me to pay £1.95 for some lottery tickets, which I said no to. Then, out of nowhere, I received a letter from someone called Anne Thompson, claiming to be the competition manager, asking me to ring a 0906 number charging £3.60 per minute! After hanging up, I later spotted an 0800 freephone to enter the competition properly. Never again will I enter any TV contests. Proper muppets!

Got a letter today claiming I’d won a TV competition after supposedly entering an ITV word search, and now they want me to enter another one. Oddly, they spelt my name wrong and I have no idea how they even managed to get my address! The contact number they gave is 09066350615 if you want to ring and ‘re-enter’. If you took part in any ITV word search comps, be careful - I reckon these scammers are targeting folks through them. Honestly, I’d steer clear of any more ITV competitions from now on because this seems to be how they’re fishing for your info.

I got a letter through the post saying I’d won a TV wordsearch competition with a cash prize of £12,500 - which is odd because I never entered anything like that. Then it told me to call back with the answer to a different wordsearch in the letter, to win £8,500, but I had to ring before midnight on 15/7/24 - the very same day the letter arrived! I got caught out by that wordsearch competition scam as well, mostly because it was on TV and seemed legit. If it had shown up in the post or I got a phone call, I’d have ignored it straight away. The letter I got said I was on a “shortlist” (my words, not theirs!) and invited me to enter another competition for a small fee - and that’s where I messed up. I’m 76 and usually quite sharp, so I’m really annoyed with myself for falling for it. Took me ages to work out why BT charged me £12.88 for a 3 minute call. Really disgusted with the TV company for pushing this nonsense. What do they plan to do now? Feels awful that these days you can’t trust anyone.

Yeh, this one’s definitely a scam. It hangs up pretty quickly, like after just a minute, and when I tried calling the number back, it just wouldn’t come up. I looked it up online and sure enough, loads of people saying it’s a scam.

I got a call after joining a word search contest, telling me I’d won some lottery tickets and that I’d be put into a prize draw too. They said I just had to pay £1.99 for postage. When I checked my online banking, they’d taken £1.99 first, and then another £1. The minute I saw this, I rang my bank and blocked them from taking any more payments because I’m sure they would’ve tried to charge me again. This comp is apparently run on ITV - so why don’t they pull the ad? With all the reports, they must be aware it’s a scam. It’s disgraceful that ITV lets it go on.

My girlfriend got a letter through the door saying something about The Big Giveaway Wordsearch Challenge and official entry results. She’d entered the competition after spotting it on TV in the morning. The letter instructed her to ring a number, 09066350615, but she never got around to calling. Then out of the blue, she got a call from 02045718658 saying she had made it to the final and had won prizes. The woman on the phone mentioned cash amounts that didn’t match anything from the TV advert, which seemed a bit off. She kept pushing for my girlfriend’s card details, supposedly to cover postage for extra prizes she’d won. But as soon as my girlfriend said she didn’t have a card, the caller just hung up. Honestly, it’s mad that these competitions are allowed to be advertised on telly at all.

My aunt got a call from this number and she’s quite elderly and didn’t realise what sort of dodgy scam they were running. She ended up being charged £36 just for picking up. Honestly, I wish I could shove the phone right down their throats and kick them proper. Phone companies really need to do something to block these premium rate scammers once and for all.

Has anyone actually contacted ITV about this? Seems like they should be held accountable. The company behind the scam is Churchcastle Ltd, working alongside Wynnington - partners in dodgy business, it seems. I'm really curious if anyone’s ever legitimately won something from these supposed competitions! Also, don't miss the tiny print saying you have to pay £12.60 just to answer two questions. Anne Thompon is named as the Competition Coordinator too. Pretty dodgy, if you ask me!

Got a letter the other day with this number on it. Turns out it’s a total scam and looks like it’s been running for quite some time. Phone providers letting this slip through really ought to feel ashamed. Surely there’s some way to call out these awful fraudsters preying on older people and those who can’t really defend themselves.

I think this might be connected to one of those dodgy crossword contests, I could be wrong but they got our name spelled wrong on the letter. Lately I've heard loads more dogs around here have been getting poisoned. If you check the crossword letter carefully, see if there’s any kinda golden crystal stuff on it. If there is, maybe we can figure out who’s behind this.

WARNING!!! I didn’t pick up when this number rang but my voicemail did. Now I’ve been charged 44 quid 😩 Thankfully EE sorted it out and gave me a refund right away. If this number rings you, just block it asap. And if anyone else has had calls from numbers like this, tell your phone company, they might be able to help. If they don’t, just ignore it. Reporting stuff like this can save you loads of money!

You really ought to pass all the info about this scam onto the police. Just search for 'action fraud' and head over to the 'police.uk' website, then navigate to the 'reporting' area. Even if you didn’t lose anything, you can still report it as a phishing scam, and there’s no need to create an account. But if money was stolen, make sure you file it as a crime. On top of that, try nicely asking your phone company to refund your loss. If they refuse, don’t be afraid to be firmer and mention you’ll switch providers at the earliest chance.

Got a call from Miss Hayley Alexandra Branston who said the word I couldn’t find in the wordsearch was ‘mastermind’. She also mentioned the 7-letter secret word was ‘TRIUMPH’. Just so you know, my number’s 07821171840.

Got a letter from 09066350615 about some TV Wordsearch competition results. The letter came by royal mail and said I’ve been chosen for the final round with a chance to win another £6000. They asked me to find a missing word on a grid and ring them straight away to confirm my answer. The letter said I needed to respond quickly to verify my info. It was signed by Anne Thompson, Competition Coordinator or something like that. Seems a bit dodgy to me!

I honestly can't believe calls like this are allowed. For starters, there was no info about the price, and I had no clue who was on the other end. Ended up costing me almost 20 quid! No way I’m answering that number again - straight to the block list it goes.

My mum’s got Alzheimer’s and she called this number a few times by mistake. Now we’ve been hit with a £67 charge. I can’t really stop her from ringing out because if I block numbers she gets even more mixed up. Last night I got a call from 020 3985 0001 saying I’d supposedly won some competition on ITV breaks in November, which I apparently entered. Turns out these dodgy people had my number somehow. When I got back home, I saw a word search contest that I had naively signed up for. I rang ITV to check and they said it was nothing to do with them. I don’t understand how these scammers have my details, including my address. I’m a pensioner and it’s just awful - something really needs to be done about this!

On the 17th of December, I apparently phoned 09066350615 two times, or so my bill says. Then I checked my phone bill today and it slapped me with a £19.29 charge for those calls. I rang up the phone provider to sort it out, but they just insisted it was me who made those calls. Quite frustrating!
