I'm a sky talk user and got billed £17 for a 20 second call to Sky's customer service after googling their number. I rang 09030280096. My Vodafone bill came through £20 more than usual, so I went online to investigate. Turns out that extra £20 was charged to this number. My son ended up calling this number he stumbled upon on his phone. After he rang them, they told him to hang up and assured him they'd call back. He complied, only to later find that I was billed £18.08 for a whopping 23 minutes! I contacted Sky to get to the bottom of it, and after some digging, they informed me that this number is linked to a recording service used by HMRC, and that Sky had no ties to it. Strangely enough, my son was indeed chatting with Sky's customer service. It seems that the recording outfit diverted him to Sky to capture the conversation, and now they’ve hit him with this fee. I believe Sky ought to issue a warning about these sorts of situations and rectify what’s happened. This unexpected charge is quite a burden for us, and I'm seriously contemplating cancelling all my Sky subscriptions as a result.

this number belongs to a middleman who charges you for passing you on to SKY, but SKY isn’t involved with any of these extra fees. if you want to get in touch with SKY it’s better to just use their official website. you know what they say, dont trust everything you find online.

In response to Daniel, I reckon SKY is to blame here. They conveniently omit phone numbers from both their bills and the order confirmations. Their website lacks proper contact numbers, which only serves to benefit these fraudsters. Honestly, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid if it turned out these scammers had connections to the SKY brand itself.

I ended up with a hefty bill of £24 for just two phone calls that barely clocked 22 minutes! My aim was to sort out the extra channels that Sky had inexplicably tacked onto my dad's account, which he wasn't at all interested in. His monthly fee skyrocketed from £58 to an astonishing £112. To top it all off, they had the audacity to add channels like Man United, Liverpool, and Chelsea TV, but without any commentary! I tried reaching out to the Sky community helpline, but they couldn't remove the channels either. Absolutely appalling service!

It’s all well and good to lodge a complaint with Ofcom or the ombudsman, but let’s not forget that if you phoned a third-party number, that’s where the charges come from - not directly from Sky. If you wish to get in touch with Sky, simply dial 150 on a Sky landline or 03442 414141 from any other phone, including mobiles. That second number is typically part of the inclusive call package, assuming you stick to your provider's guidelines concerning call times and lengths. Also, if you happen to have their Sky app on your smartphone or tablet, take advantage of the callback option. Just go to the menu, select Help and support, then Talk to us. There, you can check the expected wait times for both technical and billing queries. If it looks like you’ll have to wait longer than five minutes, you can easily request a callback.

It appears this is a third-party service rather than a direct Sky line. They connect your call to Sky but take a fee while doing so. Unsurprisingly, Sky's policy means they won't refund you, seeing as it’s not their contact number. After this experience, I decided to ring the number listed on their official site, and thankfully, there were no charges incurred!

this isnt actually skys direct number. youre getting connected to a middleman who then phones sky, but they add an extra charge for doing it. these firms pay heaps to google so their number pops up first when you search, making you think its sky’s own number and then you ring them. sky dont get any of the cash - it all goes to these companies and you’ll see a charge on your phone bill called an access fee (or service fee) no matter who your phone provider is.
