watch out for these dodgy calls from 09 numbers, you might be in for a costly surprise just by picking up. if you ring back, itll only make things worse. these scams often pop up late at night when youre half asleep. they come from overseas and use the 09 prefix to hide their tracks, making it really hard to trace. best thing you can do is report them straight away to 'action fraud'. dont just leave it to someone else to deal with. the more folks who report these calls, the better chance the police have of tracking down the criminals behind them.

I dialled the number because Google showed it as my energy supplier’s contact. When I got through, they said it wasn’t actually their line, but the call ended up costing me £9! Really annoying.

I found this number when looking up the Co-op Energy contact, turns out it charged me £12.50 for just two seconds-long calls. Ridiculous!

Was on the m2 with a flat tyre and needed to ring the rac, ended up calling this number which popped up pretending to be the rac breakdown service. Like some others mentioned, it charged me six quid just to tell me it would cost six quid - I hung up right away.

It said it was some kind of helpline but ended up costing me more than six quid, that’s even tho I hung up straight away after seeing the message about the charges!

thought this was the support line for my internet but turned out it wasnt. ended the call pretty quickly, after about 10 seconds. now ive been billed £6 for no reason. quite annoying really.

Not sure who called but they rang for about 5 seconds and now we’ve got a charge of more than £6. Bloody ridiculous!

Dont pick up that number, cost me £6! As soon as I answered it, some robot voice said I'd been slapped with a £6 fee and then hung up. I didn't even get a chance to speak to anyone, but sure enough, £6 was taken from me.
