This number rang my phone around 10 this morning but I didn’t pick up. I ended up reporting it to my carrier.

I just got a call on my mobile from this number. When I picked up, I was greeted by a robotic voice telling me I was first in line to be attended to, but then, out of nowhere, the female voice corrected herself, saying, 'No, that's not right, you're going to be waiting for quite a while. Any idea how long you’ve been waiting?' At that point, the call suddenly cut off. I found it a bit odd and initially thought about ringing the number back to discover who it belonged to, but thankfully I decided to do a little research here first. These telephone scams are becoming increasingly clever, using our expected reactions to catch us off guard.

I picked up this call and got some automated message saying “your call matters to us, you’re caller number 1 in line.” Then it stopped for a sec and went on to say “actually you’re not number 1, you’re way down the waiting list.” Then it just cut off. Best not to pick up or dial this number back. I reckon they might be charging just for answering.

I got a call at 6:42 am today, and let me tell you, with my daughters away at uni and an elderly parent in another city, it really sets my nerves on edge to get a call at that ungodly hour. You can’t help but stress over who it might be and what they want. So, I looked up the number using 1471 and then came over to this site for further clarity.
