The other day, I received a call from this number.

The other day, my mum received a rather questionable call from a company claiming to be Telecom Protection Services. Their pitch was about some gadget promising to stop nuisance calls-rather reminiscent of the genuine Telephone Preference Service, if you ask me. They assured her that this device would be with her in just three days, and it would only set her back 50 pence a week. However, in a rather sneaky twist, she ended up believing she was setting up a weekly direct debit, only to discover that they'd swindled her out of a hefty sum all at once for three years upfront, and there’s no getting that money back. Trading Standards were very intrigued when I reported this-so if you happen to receive a call from this number, exercise extreme caution!

I've encountered a similar situation myself. A chap claimed that for just 60p a week, he could send me a device to block all those annoying phone calls. He seemed quite sincere, but I didn’t take the bait. Pretty convinced it’s just a clever scam.

Just had a right palaver with a call my father received this morning. Some dodgy outfit pretending to be the Telephone Preference Service, but they called themselves the Telecom Protection Service instead. They had the cheek to ask for a whopping £79.99 for some gadget that supposedly blocks unwanted calls. Unfortunately, my dad fell for their act and ended up parting with his cash. He’s typically quite savvy, but they were so persuasive. To be cautious, I've had to arrange for his debit card to be cancelled. What a nuisance, especially since he's already signed up with the TPS!

I had a right chuckle at their cost! I bombarded them with an endless stream of questions, covering all sorts of random topics. I really made them sweat with their sales spiel. Threw in around 30 made-up bank card details just for good measure, and after a solid hour of nonsense, they finally threw in the towel. Can’t imagine why, though - it’s a mystery, isn’t it? Ha ha!

I sent a box over to my father-in-law, but it seems it won’t connect as it requires an additional cable. I rang up three weeks back, and they assured me that the cable would be dispatched that very day. Yet, here I am still twiddling my thumbs, unable to get the box up and running!

I, like many others who have received calls from this company, was led to believe they had some sort of link to BT, as the woman informed me when I inquired. Despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, I continue to receive those bothersome calls from individuals introducing themselves as “Michael”, and speaking in a noticeably Indian accent. When I probed about any potential charges, I made it clear I had no interest, and she promptly ended the conversation, which is understandable. I have a mate who unwittingly shared her bank information and subsequently found £100 missing from her account. She returned the parcel without signing for it when the postman delivered it. The company claimed a cheque was dispatched to her, yet it never arrived. Upon her follow-up, she was informed that the initial cheque would be cancelled and a new one issued. However, unsurprisingly, she is still left waiting...

I recently received a call from this number and the connection was rather awful. It raised a few eyebrows, so I told them to ring me again next week. After seeing the other comments, it appears that Trading Standards might want to take a closer look at these folks. Curious, isn’t it?

I was under the impression that this was a genuine BT matter and, as a result, they deducted a lump sum from my account. They’ve been absolutely awful at returning my calls, and ultimately, they reached out to BT themselves, managed to set up caller ID, and somehow enrolled me into a year-long contract with BT. It’s honestly infuriating to think how naïve I was to share my details with them.

I was led to believe they had a solid link with BT. The package arrived, but I couldn't for the life of me get it operational. They assured me an engineer would reach out, but I’m still twiddling my thumbs. I've called at least ten times; they asked for my date of birth and, like an absolute numpty, I provided it. They went ahead and contacted BT, setting up caller ID, which inadvertently pulled me into yet another year-long contract with them. I'm still battling this company and won’t let them off the hook. Just rang again to challenge their authority in doing that, and guess what? They promised to give me a call by 11am. Well, it’s now 11am and I'm still waiting for that phone call. What an utterly dreadful experience! I'm seriously contemplating cutting off my phone altogether to avoid any further calls.

Received a call claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service, wanting to discuss how many nuisance calls I've been getting. They mentioned sending some sort of gadget to my home to connect to my phone line, for the not-so-charming price of £79.99. Absolutely no chance I’d hand over my card details over the phone! It baffles me why I’d pay for something that’s supposed to be free via a website. It's clearly a scam, and I've made sure to notify the legitimate TPS about their dodgy operation.

I had the pleasure of chatting with a delightful gentleman named Asher, who was exceptionally courteous and informative. He made the whole process remarkably straightforward, supplying me with all the details I required. Honestly, I'm absolutely thrilled with the support he and his crew have extended. Ever since I implemented my call blocker, I've yet to receive a single unwanted call, so for those of you pondering whether this is dodgy, let me assure you, it's legitimate. Cheers to the Telecom Protection Service for coming to my rescue!

I can assure you, this is not a fraudulent operation. I went ahead with the sign-up process and it was entirely above board.

Oh, here we go again! After enduring weeks on end of nuisance calls, I finally received another one just today. The caller claimed, rather suspiciously, that they've had a significant number of complaints about pesky calls in my postcode. It all sounds rather dodgy, if you ask me. Just a heads up, folks! Stay vigilant!

As with the comments preceding mine, everything appeared utterly believable until the moment he requested my MasterCard details along with the three-digit security code on the reverse. I found it rather odd that he claimed not to require my bank or sort code information. When I firmly declined to share those details, the caller abruptly disconnected the line. Quite the suspicious encounter, I'd say!

I had a remarkably similar encounter to the one elaborated on earlier. The name given was ‘Kerry’, and they suggested a scheme costing 50 pence a week for a three-year duration. When I asked for the website, they supplied www.telcompreferenceservice.co.uk. I inquired specifically whether they were affiliated with BT and was informed that they 'collaborated closely with BT'. Quite amusing, really!

Had a rather dodgy bloke named 'Alex' ring me up, claiming he could eliminate all my bothersome calls from the UK. He also mentioned that for a mere 50 pence a week, he could block any overseas calls too. He was going on about some register he'd put me on, but the moment I mentioned I wasn't keen on being added to any list, he abruptly cut the line. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I received what appeared to be a legitimate call earlier today. The woman on the line introduced herself and even provided me with her contact number for a callback. She mentioned something about me receiving an excessive number of nuisance calls and offered to help remedy the situation for £70. Has anyone else had a similar experience, or can anyone confirm if this is the real deal?
