It's merely a tactic to get you to return their calls, thereby boosting their profits with just a minimal expenditure on some basic autodial technology. I completely get that this isn't important, and I'm not suggesting otherwise for even a second. I merely want to highlight that if you choose to call them back, you won't be slapped with some outrageous charge. From what we understand, the 0871 rate stands at about 10 pence per minute, which means they probably won’t be raking in much profit from these calls at all.
