Having perused some of the other remarks, I reckon British Gas is rather a dodgy option, considering their track record for sheer ineptitude-one can never be too certain, can they? It's usually wiser to let unknown numbers ring out rather than answer. Those sorts will leave a message if they're truly in need of reaching you!

Chances are it's one of those dubious salami scams. They give you a ring, and by the time you realise it, you're left scrambling to answer. So, you return the call thinking it's something important, only to find yourself entangled for a few minutes. It all feels a bit dodgy when you discover it only sets you back about 25p, which tends to slip under the radar in your bill (which goes straight to the account holder). The kicker is, these folks are ringing up thousands of unsuspecting people, so when a few hundred call back, they're laughing all the way to the bank with a tidy sum.

The phone didn’t actually ring, but I noticed this number popped up as a missed call at 11:49. I stumbled upon it while searching online, and for the life of me, I can’t recall any previous calls from this number, though it’s certainly possible. I haven’t got a clue who it might be, but we do think it could be a call from British Gas, as we’ve been kind of waiting for them to get in touch. So, that's our best guess at the moment!
