I received a phone call earlier today claiming that I had taken out a Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) on a loan or mortgage with HSBC way back in 1988, which I absolutely have not. The callers were adamant that they could help me reclaim a substantial sum of money - potentially thousands! They insisted that I needed to pay a deposit upfront, which I outright refused. When I asked them to provide the details in writing, they suddenly claimed they couldn't do that because the deadline for the claim would expire before I received the information! It’s curious how they could offer a claim from 1988 but then rushed me when I requested further details. This whole thing sounds like a total scam!

Received a call earlier on, claiming that we had taken out PPI on a loan or mortgage with HSBC way back in 1988. The thing is, we never did! The callers were going on about how they could get us a refund that could amount to thousands of pounds! They mentioned needing a deposit upfront, which we flatly refused to pay. We asked them to send us the information in writing, as they said that was part of the procedure to file a claim for something that had passed its time limit! Astonishingly, they insisted we were eligible for a claim from 1988, but the timeframe they were talking about didn’t really add up. Absolute scammers, if you ask me!

Apologies, Iain, but I've just received a correspondence from the solicitors handling our claim. They've informed me that it seems we'll be getting at least £4000 back! It's absolutely incredible! I highly recommend anyone to pursue this route!

We're rather sceptical about this Jeff. And as for that "refundable" deposit you mentioned, I'd wager it's as good as gone. Honestly, never, under any circumstances, should you divulge your credit card or banking details to a random caller. To be honest, it seems to us that these individuals are quite dubious and definitely in need of some scrutiny from the Ministry of Justice. It looks like we might just take that step. ;)

Just received a call from these chaps earlier today, they were touting some rather enticing returns. I reckon I'll hold off for the moment to see how things pan out with Jeff first. The ball’s in your court now, Jeff - wishing you all the best!

Some chap gave Paul a bell regarding reclaiming PPI on a loan we took out a while back. Just received the paperwork in the post, so here’s hoping we might actually see a bit of dosh returned from that thieving bank of ours!

Earlier today, we received a call from a company claiming to be First Line, informing us about potential refunds we could claim from our bank loans and mortgage related to mis-sold PPI insurance. We forked out a deposit of £149, operating under the hope that this is a genuine opportunity to reclaim some money. But now we’re in a bit of a quandary-has anyone had a positive experience with this? After scanning through the comments here, we're feeling rather anxious about whether we’ve made the right move!

We've secured a service with 1st Line and have already put down a deposit, but, much like you, Louise, it’s left us feeling a tad anxious. Fingers crossed that everything will pan out and I receive exactly what I’m owed!

We received a call from the primary service line and made a deposit, yet, similar to Louise, we’re feeling somewhat anxious at the moment. We really hope to receive precisely what we've anticipated.

I’ve just received a call from this number, claiming I've had at least one missed connection. It could very well be more, especially once I check out our spouse's loans. They've asked for a £99 deposit, which they promised we’d get refunded. I plan to bide my time and observe what transpires with Jeff before deciding to visit them. Best of luck to you, Jeff! 😊 x

We're a bit sceptical about this Jeff. And I'd wager that the "refundable" deposit you handed over during that phone call is as good as gone. Honestly, never, I repeat, NEVER divulge your credit card or banking details to someone who calls you out of the blue. To be perfectly frank, we reckon these individuals ought to be reported to the Ministry of Justice. And you know what? That’s precisely what we’re planning to do. 😉
