We recently received a call from an individual who asked us to renew the warranty on our Sky equipment. When we probed to confirm the name under which the Sky contract was held, we were told that our warranty had expired. We pointed out that our equipment is over a decade old and that we tend to handle any repairs ourselves once it gives up the ghost. When we pressed further about his intentions, he bluntly stated that he was simply after our payment for the equipment warranty. At no point did he mention that he wasn’t affiliated with Sky. We promptly ended the call.

Absolutely, we've had the same experience with the very same number. We decided to return the call and started firing off questions. We were curious about where they sourced our information, and they mentioned it was from a company called Commercial/Consumer Marketing Data, located at 112 -116 Sherdian Home, Western Road, East Sussex, BN4 1DD. But honestly, who can really tell? We brought up the Data Protection Act, specifically the section regarding data accuracy, and pointed out that our consent had expired ages ago. We asked to speak to the data controller, but the individual on the other end seemed rather flustered and ended up hanging up on us! Quite the encounter, to say the least!

I received a call from this number earlier today, but they didn't answer when I picked up and left no message behind. Interestingly, I've had calls from the same number before, as well as from 08716641448. Quite peculiar, isn't it?

Had a rather dubious experience with 0845 644 8224, purportedly from SKY SAT in Bognor Regis. They claimed they were reaching out to discuss a potential reduction to our monthly direct debit. However, the background noise was quite shocking-lots of expletives being tossed around! I must say, it’s a new low in professionalism, even for outfits with a reputation for dubious dealings!

Following up on our conversation yesterday, it seems that this company is up to no good. They’re making calls to numbers registered on the Telephone Preference Service, which is definitely against the rules. Just a heads up, we’ll be looking into imposing some hefty fines on them or even pushing for their shutdown.

Received a call from this number while I was seeking information on our internet service provider. When we inquired if it was a sales call, the chap awkwardly confessed it was indeed. Once we pointed out that he was representing PlayTV, we cautioned him about the legal implications of not verifying our number against the TPS list. At that point, he abruptly ended the conversation. Quite the cheeky approach, I must say!

Received a call from 08716641481, and the person on the line claimed to represent BT, offering to slash my rental and broadband charges. I told them the person they needed to speak to wasn't available but that they'd be welcome to ring back when I'm around, providing them with the number 08716641509. So, I just got back home after being out and decided to dial 1471 to see who had called me. The number that popped up was 08716641481. They didn’t leave a message, which got me a bit suspicious. With all the scams floating about, I figured it was wise to investigate a bit further. Just to clarify, I’m not with Sky! We’ve opted for a phone preference service, but it seems that hasn’t made much of a difference!

It’s a shame, as we usually enjoy having a natter and giving the sales people a bit of a runaround. When I tried to return the call, all I got was a recorded message from something called Re-Communications. I’ve already signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, mind you.

We received a couple of phone calls in quick succession! The first time, as soon as we answered, they hung up straight away. Then, not even a minute later, the phone rang again. This time, the callers were after the person responsible for the Sky TV account. We clearly mentioned that we don't have Sky (which is true), and they quickly apologised. I was a bit sceptical and didn't wait around to see who they were. It seems like they could be using some sort of auto-dialling system to reach anyone who answers!

The caller didn’t seem to know who we were but mentioned our door number and street name. Received a call from this number earlier and decided to give them a bell back. It turns out it's PlayTV. They claimed our postcode is eligible for some cut-rate phone calls. We made it clear that we weren't keen on their offer and asked them to remove our number from their records. Apparently, that's a bit tricky for them, but they assured us we "shouldn't" hear from them again. Let’s hope that’s the case!

Received a call earlier tonight from 08716641481. A chap on the other end claimed he was reaching out regarding an expired Sky warranty. He tried to inject some humour into the conversation by butchering the pronunciation of our street name, but we were well aware of this scam, so we kept our lips zipped.
