I received a message regarding payday loans, and it's true that you'll be sent a text with a reference number as a security measure when you submit a loan application through their site. I can assure you, this isn't a scam at all. If you happen to get a text that seems to be sent by mistake, it's usually due to a simple typing blunder where someone has entered their number wrong, and yours gets mixed up instead. Quite straightforward, really! :)

Received a voice message from this number claiming that I’ve been approved for a payday loan. Total scam, without a doubt!

I recently received a call from a company known as Payday UK, based in London. They're associated with those well-known payday loans and credit services. Quite a reputation they’ve got!

Received a call regarding a swift loan, complete with a reference number. I have a funny feeling it’s a bit dodgy, to be honest.

Received a text message on our landline stating that we’ve applied for a loan and it asked us to reference a speedy code. I can assure you, we haven't applied for anything at all. Upon reading the message, it surely seems like a scam. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this?

Mick, do you genuinely believe this was just a minor mistake? What gives you that impression?

I received a voice message from this number. My husband was just on the phone trying to help me sort out our financial situation. Is it possible there’s a connection with these callers? They left a reference number for something they've labelled as my "application", but we certainly haven't applied for anything, as we're not in a position to repay any debts!

I received a text message containing a reference number on our work phone. Unfortunately, I'm unable to call any 0870 or 0871 numbers from this line. Given the circumstances, we can only assume that it's a scam, as it doesn't make much sense for a staff member to provide the work number as a point of contact.

A message came through from BT claiming that we'd applied for a "payday loan," but it’s nothing more than a fib!

Last Friday evening, on the 26th of October 2009, we received a rather unexpected call from a payday loan company at 08715500073. To say we're baffled would be an understatement; we’ve never even heard of this lot before! I can assure you, I’ve never sought out any form of credit, nor do I have any intention of doing so. I’m quite puzzled as to how these individuals managed to acquire our phone number and why they feel the need to keep ringing me.

I've got one of those rings linked to some quick loans with a reference number, and I can't shake the feeling that it's a bit dodgy.
