I’m inquiring about the landline number for Capquest, the company that recently acquired our Visa credit card debt. We’ve been marked as red default on Creditexpert, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason for it.

Capquest is quite the sketchy outfit when it comes to recovering debts. They seem to specialise in acquiring "debts" and then harassing folk for payment, even when they know full well that these claims are either fabricated or far too old to collect on. I’ve actually received correspondence from them using that number. They’ve been known to send follow-up letters that are equally suspect, coming from a solicitors firm by the name of HL Legal. It’s just Capquest under another suspicious banner!

Capquest, a rather questionable debt collection agency, seems to be on a relentless pursuit, acquiring various "debts" only to then hound individuals for repayment. Even when they realise that these debts are either non-existent or legally unenforceable due to the time elapsed. I recently received correspondence featuring that very number. Interestingly, they might send subsequent mailings from another dubious outfit calling themselves HL Legal, all under a different guise. Quite the shifty operation, if you ask me!
