I got a call from this number and ended up being charged 88p.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent asking for a Mr Dan, told them no one here by that name. Then they switched to asking for a Kevin, same answer, no one like that around. They wanted to know who I was, so I asked where they were calling from, but they didn't say anything. Then they asked for my name again. Got fed up and hung up, then blocked the number. The caller ID was 08710751226, and it showed up as a premium rate number.

I received a rather peculiar text message stating, "You've missed a call from me at 13:04 on 13th July. This is a complimentary call alert from O2. To deactivate this service, please dial 901, press *, then select option 5 twice." To top it off, it was sent from the number 0871 075 1226 (SMS/MMS). Now, I find it quite hard to believe this could genuinely be from O2, especially since my call log doesn’t show any missed calls around that time, or at any time, for that matter. It’s safe to say that I smell a rat, and this appears to be a classic scam attempt aimed at getting me to ring that dodgy number. I opted not to call, as if it were truly important, surely they'd have left a voicemail or tried reaching me again. Plus, the info on this website strongly suggests that this number is one to avoid.
