10 yearsCheers, folks! We received a text from HSL prompting us to give them a bell about a reference number, whatever it was. We tend to be quite cautious with unsolicited messages and calls from unknown firms, so we decided to do a bit of digging into these dodgy characters. Based on all your experiences, we won’t be responding to their text or ringing them back. However, it does make us ponder how many vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly, might have fallen prey to these con artists and coughed up their hard-earned cash. It's infuriating to think about!HSL10 yearsToday, I found myself inundated with calls and messages intended for someone else entirely. It's baffling, really, considering I've never had an Orange contract phone in my life. How on earth did these individuals come by my number? It feels like a total invasion! Given that we can easily pick up a new SIM for just 99p, that might just have to be our next step. Honestly, they’re as relentless as those timeshare salespeople in Spain-absolute leeches! It's like they’d rather be on benefits than endure this type of work, which, let’s be honest, is probably more taxing than flipping burgers at McDonald's!SpainMcDonald ' s11 yearsI haven't personally received a call from these folks, but we do have a few 0870 numbers that are almost identical, differing only by the final digit, to their 0870 746 9049. Because of that, we’re inundated with about thirty calls a day. Yet, whenever we pick up, it’s always the same spiel: "This is Jon Smith, Reference number… what was it again, oh yes, blah blah blah." Quite the nuisance, really!Jon Smith11 yearsWe received a rather alarming text from these folks saying: "URGENT! Miss Natasha. Kindly ring HSL at 08707469049 and mention the reference number...". We haven’t a foggiest who this could be, so we figured we’d do some digging and stumbled upon this site. Pleased to say we know who it is now, but we wouldn’t be shocked if they’re linked to Orange, as they seem to be a bunch of rogues. Just like the previous commenter mentioned, we ended up cancelling our Orange contract, and now we’re free of that debt. Utterly despicable behaviour!URGENT11 yearsNot long after we received the text, these individuals decided to give us a call this afternoon at 9:22. They also reached out to DLC at another number, 01280707295, so keep your eyes peeled for that one!DLC12 yearsIf you take a gander at the Consumer Action Group website, particularly the forums dedicated to debt collection, you'll discover that this particular company is quite notorious in those circles. The advice shared there is incredibly helpful for dealing with them effectively. Once you have the backing of CAG, you'll find that DLC is eager to back off before you know it!Consumer Action Group12 yearsNot long after sending us a text, these folks called us today around 9:22 AM, displaying the name DLC with the number 01280707295. Definitely another one to keep an eye on!12 yearsWe’ve reached out to these debt recovery agents, making it abundantly clear that we owe Orange absolutely nothing. We’re well aware that Orange has offloaded a bunch of questionable debts-possibly unlawfully, I’d add. Should these intruders persist, we're fully prepared to take legal action for harassment. I reckon that might just get their attention!12 yearsI just got a call from this number today. I reckon it’s a complete scam! I haven’t been with Orange in over five years now.Orange12 yearsI received a call from this number, and they just gave me a reference number. I’m planning to return the call shortly.Submit Your Own Report (0870 746 9049)
