For sure, this seems like a total scam.

I had an unexpected call regarding my Visa debit card, and the chap on the line inquired whether I had authorised a £1200 transaction at Tesco. He mentioned going through some security checks, but I was a bit sceptical. I decided to say I’d ring up Barclaycard Visa using the number printed on the back of my card instead. They definitely hadn’t reached out to me!

Got a call supposedly from Santander's fraud department. I asked a few questions, and they just got nervous and ended the call. Don't ever hand over your info to these lot!

I got a call claiming £2000 was withdrawn from my bank, which turned out to be a scam. Not long before, someone pretending to be from Sky phoned me to set up a new direct debit, asking for my bank info - that was a scam too. Then, they went ahead and moved money into a new account. Luckily, Santander’s fraud team contacted me soon after. They’re trying to recover the cash but can’t promise anything. These scammers sound so convincing and even kept me on the phone for over two hours! Watch out and don’t fall for it.

I’ve come across this number for Santander Customer Services-it’s what they print on the back of numerous credit and debit cards. I gave them a ring for just under 7 minutes during a weekday afternoon, around 3 PM, and it ended up costing me £3.00 on a Virgin Mobile. It’s worth noting that charges could be even steeper on other networks. I'd advised steering clear of this money-grabbing scheme: don't bother calling back that "security" or "fraud alert" on the 084* number! Instead, you might want to check out "SayNoTo0870.com," which offers a free alternative: 0800 707 6692. Apparently, it’s quite reliable-even outside the usual hours.

I received a call from this number, and to my surprise, I've been billed for it. Can someone advise me on how I can stop this from happening?

If you take a gander at the reverse side of your debit card, you’ll notice that there's a phone number listed there.

Absolutely, it’s Santander that got in touch with us. We ended up shelling out nearly three quid on various items from the menu.

I received a call from Abbey on this number, but why on earth are we being billed straight away just for them getting in touch with me?

Today, we received three calls from this number claiming to be associated with our bank. I've already informed our local branch about it.

Absolutely, that's the number associated with the abbey. We're affiliated with them, and it's likely those calls were regarding your card transactions. Were you perhaps travelling or in an area outside your usual locale? Or did you make a notably hefty purchase recently? You know, like a big debit card buy. I’m just curious as it does seem they’re keen on keeping a close watch on your spending. It's reassuring to see that someone is keeping tabs on these sorts of matters!

If you take a glance at the rear side of your debit card, you'll find that this telephone number is printed there.

We gave them a bell shortly after receiving a message on the 28th of January at 21:25:35 (during off-peak hours) and ended up on a call that dragged on for nearly 30 minutes-29:46 to be precise. The bill came to a hefty £5.07! Most of that time we were just waiting on hold. We're also keen to know how we can go about reclaiming that amount. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

We dialled Santander using this number and ended up incurring a charge of £1.52 for what turned out to be a 22-minute call. For a good 20 seconds, we were left hanging on "hold" as we waited to be connected to someone who could help. It certainly feels like they intentionally keep customers waiting far longer than necessary! We'd quite like to give them a ring to voice our concerns, but we're wary of getting stung again by that pesky 0845 number. If anyone's clued up on the best way to tackle this issue, we’d really appreciate your advice!

I've had to fork out for the calls to this number at 10 PM on the 31st of May. We're not even home, and Andy doesn't hold an Abbey account, so I'm baffled as to why I'm receiving these calls that I'm currently being charged for!

Why on earth have we been billed for this call?

Greetings! We recently contacted the 0800 service and raised concerns about the charges we’ve been incurring, specifically pointing out an erroneous withdrawal. It appears that the error was on their end, including an unexpected £25 international fee. While they did refund us a tenner, which helped mitigate our loss, it’s crucial to file your complaint promptly after you notice the issue. Wishing you all the best for your next dealings!

On the evening of May 31st, at precisely 22:00, we noticed a charge for a call associated with this number. However, we were not at home at that time, and I don't hold an Abbey account. Could someone please explain why I'm being billed for these calls that I certainly didn’t make?

There's been a lot of chatter about a department claiming to look into scams, supposedly linked to Abbey. Honestly, it all feels a bit fishy to me. Is there any legitimacy to this, or is it just another dodgy scheme?

We simply must express our utter disdain for Santander, which has proven to be the most appalling bank we’ve ever had the misfortune to engage with. They assure you time and again that you won’t receive calls asking for your personal information, yet lo and behold, they ring you up requesting you to answer "security questions"! It's baffling, really. As for customer service? An absolute nightmare! Expect to be left dangling on hold-oh, and surprise, they’ll even charge you for that! To top it off, they seem utterly indifferent to messages or complaints sent their way. Honestly, there’s no comparison-Lloyds Bank has far more credence in our eyes.

This number is indeed a legitimate Santander Customer Services contact, clearly indicated on the back of a good many debit and credit cards.
For a call that lasted just 7 minutes and 20 seconds around 3pm on a weekday, I ended up being charged £3.00 on my Virgin Mobile. (You might find the charges are even steeper on other service providers.)
Steer clear of this extortion: don’t ring back that so-called "security" or "fraud prevention" call on this 084* number!
If you head over to "SayNoTo0870.com", you’ll find a whole host of free-call options; I’d recommend trying 0800 707 6692, as I’ve heard it’s functional even outside of standard hours.

I'm getting numerous calls from this number every day, requesting that I press a digit to chat regarding my account. It's baffling, as I have no clue who they might be.
