i got a few calls today from the number 08458620586 but i didn’t pick up. after seeing all the other comments about this number, i’m glad i just left it ringing. they’ve called me several times now.

Just like what others have mentioned, I answered the call and there was nothing but silence before a robotic voice said "goodbye". They clearly don’t care about the TPS list, so I’m sure it’s a scam of some kind.

These lot ring up just to check if your number's actually being used. If you pick up, their system kicks in and they mark it as active, then your number ends up getting passed around. After that, you get swamped with even more calls. Honestly, I found getting a landline with call blocking features really helpful - they’re around £30-40. That way, you can stop those pesky numbers straight away. Had to do it myself ‘cause the amount of calls I kept getting was nuts.

Almost always, it's some annoying spam call. It's not a huge deal for me, but my other half does night shifts and gets woken up by all these calls. Told them I don’t want any more calls but the woman was quite rude and said I wouldn't understand what the call was for. Honestly, it’s starting to get on my nerves big time.

They completely brushed me off when I mentioned that my house already had cavity wall insulation, double glazed windows, and the loft couldn’t be insulated as it’s been turned into another bedroom. Before I could get further, she cut me off saying that wasn’t the reason for her call. I tried to explain I also had solar panels but was curious about solar thermal systems instead. There was dead silence, and after I prompted, she repeated the question if I wanted solar panels installed. I told her again I already had those installed, then asked if she even knew the difference between solar panels and solar thermal ones. More silence, then a hesitant “no”. I gave her a quick rundown, but she still only asked if I wanted solar panels fitted. At that point I gave in and said I’d be reporting the cold call since I’m on the TPS register.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from an advice centre about solar panels. They had my surname right but called me Mrs instead of Miss. Then they passed me on to a bloke who started chatting about how I could save money with some government solar panel scheme. I told him straight away I wasn’t interested, I think solar panels look terrible, so he’s just wasting his breath. He kept trying to convince me, got as far as saying “but m...” before I just hung up. Honestly, why is it so hard for these people to accept a no? I’ve blocked the number now.

I’ve gone ahead and lodged a complaint with Ofcom using their silent call form on their website. Fingers crossed that the new regulations they’re planning will put an end to these annoying calls. I’m pretty convinced it’s some sort of scam. One time a woman called, trying to get info from me, and she got quite rude when I said it sounded dodgy. Then she just hung up when I asked for her name and number.

Some woman called claiming she was from Sky trying to sell me a warranty for my Sky box. She wanted my account number, but I told her if she was really from Sky, she’d already know that. Then she quickly changed her story and said she wasn’t from Sky but just worked with them. I told her to stop calling me. Not even five minutes later, a different caller from the same number rings again, so I just hung up. Honestly, feels like a total scam and harassment to me.

Honestly, get yourself one of those call blockers, it really stops them from ringing you over and over. I just got a ring from this number and ended up chatting with the bloke for about 15 mins while I waited for my missus to get ready for a bit of shopping. He was going on about how it was the tps’s fault that my number was flagged for their calls, said I didn’t get technology and needed to be nicer on the phone.
