3 yearsBeware of this scammer pretending to be from Barclays. They told me my card had to be cancelled because someone allegedly tried to spend £4,000 on it! Initially, they sounded quite convincing. The first call came from an unknown number, and after I said I didn’t know who they were, they called me several more times from the same suspicious number. They even had my card info and read it out loud. Then they asked me to log into my banking app for some kind of verification, but soon requested a code from the pin sentry device. That’s when I got suspicious because Barclays never ask for that during verification. They only confirm identity through the notifications icon inside the app once you’re logged in. I rang Barclays immediately and they told me my card was okay and no attempts were made to use it.
