This month alone, we’ve received a couple of these phone calls, and they always leave messages on our answering machine (we certainly don’t call them back!). Quite frankly, we're rather fed up with these persistent rings. We’re registered with the TPS, so we really shouldn’t be getting them at all, and our number was supposed to be on the x-list. It’s quite baffling, really!

We suspect this might have been a company engaged in debt collection.

Absolutely! It's such a hassle, isn't it? Just answer the phone, then stick it on the telly. These folks have a chat, and honestly, we do this all the time. It ends up costing them, not us!

It's GoDebt that's linked to Provident Private Credit. You might be familiar with brands like Vanquis credit cards, Provident cheques, Yes vehicle finance, and Greenwoods, among others. This outfit seems to target those who are struggling financially, often dishing out interest rates that can soar above 200%. They're basically legalised loan sharks, if you ask me.

I had a private number that wasn't listed, and I wanted to give a mate a call. Sadly, these folks aren’t able to take my call because the number's not in the system, so I had to leave it be.

This number kept ringing us, insisting we get back to them. The thing is, we have no outstanding credits or anything of the sort. Since we recently switched to a new Virgin phone line after moving in, it's puzzling why they keep contacting us. We’ve just settled the kids down for the night, and wouldn’t you know it, they woke one of them up with their incessant calls?! We’d thought Virgin would be the first port of call when we reached out to inquire about this. Quite frustrating, really!

My partner's been inundated with the same messages, which is quite unsettling for him. When he finally managed to get a hold of the sender, he mentioned that he's only 15, so they wouldn't really gain anything from her. They stopped calling for a bit, but it seems they've started up once more. Does anyone have suggestions on how to put an end to this? We thought about telling them they've got a private number, and that by calling they might be infringing on the law, which in some instances could actually be true. Any thoughts or advice?

I raised some serious questions with GoDebt regarding the validity of their calls and the information they were after. You should have seen the look on her face when she proposed we pop over there in person - it was as if she was fishing for a reaction, perhaps hoping we'd lose our tempers so she could summon the authorities. She directed us to Dumfries Place in Cardiff. I have a strong suspicion these folks are affiliated with Greenwood Finance, but they seem to be linked to all sorts of businesses. Absolute clowns, if you ask me. They ought to have their trading licence revoked!

Gave them a bell and asked straight away who was on the other end. They claimed they couldn't disclose their identity, which left us feeling rather puzzled. In the end, we ended up uncovering something we hadn't expected at all! Suffice it to say, that number is now firmly blocked!

We've been receiving persistent calls from this number, urging us to ring them back. The thing is, I've got no outstanding loans or any financial issues whatsoever. Since moving in, we’ve set up a new Virgin mobile line, so I’m baffled as to why we’re being targeted like this. It’s really frustrating, especially since we just got the little ones settled for the night, and they woke our baby for absolutely no reason! Do you think Virgin would be able to block the number if we contacted them about it?

There's been persistent calls to my mum's house from someone trying to reach me. It's utterly baffling as I haven't the foggiest idea who it might be, and they won’t share any information with her. It's all rather puzzling, to be honest!

I've been getting calls from this number for almost a year now! I’ve set up the call block on withheld numbers with Virgin, but annoyingly, this company still seems to find a way around it. It's really becoming a bother, especially since they tend to ring me at all sorts of odd hours, including late into the night!

This lot keeps ringing me incessantly-what on earth are they playing at? Could someone please put an end to their calls?

I reached out and asked for our partner, but when I inquired about who was on the other end, they refused to tell me. Then, rather oddly, they insinuated that my husband might be involved in something we were completely unaware of! It goes without saying, the call ended abruptly after that.

Bravo to you, Lulu! It’s refreshing to see that we find ourselves in precisely the same predicament. We tend to brush off their antics just as you do. They've tried to intimidate us with a whole range of threats, but none of them have ever actually followed through. Truly, they’re nothing but opportunists. Let’s all keep on disregarding them; they really don’t possess any real power over us!

Since around early April, we’ve been inundated with calls from this number and another, 0870 0131420. The moment you answer, you're greeted by an automated message from a woman saying, 'Apologies, we missed your call. Kindly return the call to 0845 6088818 (or 0870 0131420).' These numbers seem to be of the premium rate variety, raising our suspicions that it might be a scam designed to rake in money from those who ring them back.

Blimey, these folks just won’t stop ringing! Is there any chance of getting them to give it a rest?
