During the conversation, a young woman asked me for my date of birth and address, which I rightly declined to provide. I asked for a callback number, and shortly after, I was given the 0845 number. However, once I rang my account manager, I confirmed that HSBC had not been attempting to contact me at all; hence my search for this number. It's essential not to divulge personal details to unsolicited callers!

I tend to ignore random calls from unknown numbers, so I’ve no clue who was trying to reach me - definitely not anyone who ought to have my number. I've heard murmurs that it might be HSBC? If that’s the case, why didn’t they bother to leave a message?

We gave HSBC a bell again, feeling a tad dissatisfied with your last response. Unfortunately, those folks couldn’t shed any light on the number that called or how often they’ve been ringing. It certainly appears that the calls are linked to an HSBC contracting firm. We’ve reached out to HSBC via email to express our concerns about this whole situation and are eagerly awaiting their reply!

Received a call from this number as well. The callers asked for two details regarding our personal date, and we mentioned that if they were indeed representing HSBC, they would already possess that information in their records. Then, when they proceeded to ask for our date of birth, we questioned how could we be sure they were genuinely affiliated with HSBC?! We requested a contact number to verify their identity, and they provided us with one. We did a bit of digging as we were conversing with them for the second time, and luckily, this website popped up. Thankfully, we didn’t disclose any information and simply hung up.

Absolutely shifty business! We've encountered the exact same issue with both our work and personal numbers. Stay vigilant, folks. It appears that our information was nabbed when we applied for a card with HSBC; that's when we shared our workplace details and mobile number. I received a couple of calls from someone who claimed to be Chris from HSBC, first on my mobile and then on the landline. They asked me to confirm my date of birth, which I found a bit suspicious. We’ve encountered something similar ourselves. On Friday, we received a call on our mobile and asked them to send us a letter. They did indeed send a letter, but it was delivered to my workplace instead of our home address, which feels a bit suspicious, to say the least.
