Who on earth keeps ringing our number? It's becoming rather annoying!

I decided to give that number a ring back, and to my surprise, the person on the line claimed to be from Halifax’s collections department. Quite peculiar, really, since I’m actually in credit with my account-never gone overdrawn and I've not set up any overdraft facility. To add to the mystery, I don't have a mortgage or even a credit card! The lady on the other end had an accent that sounded Indian, I reckon? Quite the odd encounter, I must say.

I got a text from 08456044531 at 20:03 on 19/03/13 saying:

I was pretty wary about it at first!
The caller was a woman, sounded like she might’ve been Indian, and she asked me for my sort code and account number. I didn’t give her anything and rang Halifax using the number on my bank card instead. Halifax called the number back for me and confirmed it’s a legitimate number for their account and credit card debt team. I was slightly over my overdraft last week, not right now, so it seems this is a genuine contact for collections.
If you get something like this and aren’t sure, do what I did and phone your bank directly before giving any info.
