So, this happened on Sunday, 11th January around 4:30pm. I didn’t pick up the call, and honestly, glad I didn’t. For starters, I’ve never been a Santander customer, not even once. More strangely though, they rang my spare phone - the one I keep for emergencies and never share the number with anyone. How on earth they managed to get hold of it is a complete mystery to me...

Today, on 4th January 2015, I received a call on my landline from this number, and then it rang my mobile around five minutes later. They asked me to get in touch with Santander on 0845 850 9546. When I tried calling the original number back, it just went straight to voicemail. I decided to call Santander directly, and after speaking with their security team, they confirmed they hadn’t made any calls to me today. The lady advised me to ignore any more calls from that number and never to share any bank or card info. What really unsettles me is how they already knew my bank, my name, and both my phone numbers. I’m really hoping nobody gets tricked into handing over sensitive banking info to scammers like this. From now on, I’ll be way more cautious about any calls claiming to be from my bank.
