Phone number ☎️ 08456023069 👆 is reported as a number linked to Age UK PPP care alarm systems that monitor elderly users' emergency pendants. Many users, especially seniors and their families, have seen unexplained charges for short calls, often made in the early hours, appearing on their phone bills despite not making the calls themselves. These are usually automatic test calls or accidental alerts from the alarm devices, causing frustration due to mounting costs and difficulty in stopping or blocking the charges. Some providers deny responsibility or offer refunds inconsistently, leaving vulnerable customers confused and out of pocket. The number is not for cold calls but relates to safety monitoring. However, the lack of clear communication and billing transparency causes considerable distress and suspicion among affected households.

For the past three months, my 93-year-old mother-in-law has been getting around 47 calls like these. We didn’t notice at first since her phone bill is settled automatically via direct debit. Does anyone know how to stop these annoying calls from coming through?

I got one of those PP alarm pendants, but every month they keep charging me for calls I never actually made. I called PP and they said my pendant was outdated, so they sent me a new one with a digital system. That ended up costing me, but even now the bills have charges for calls I didn’t place. It’s so frustrating and I’m completely stuck on how to fix this!

For months now, I've noticed odd charges on my phone bill - like seven calls each month, mostly really early in the morning, racking up over £2 regularly. The annoying thing is, my phone never actually rings when these happen, but I still get charged. I've got a PPP service as well, which already adds a few quid to my monthly costs. I checked with PPP and they said the number isn't theirs. After seeing some of the comments here, I’m left wondering if the culprit is BT or PPP? It’s all a bit confusing honestly.

Just spotted this number on my recent BT statement. The call was marked at 10.59pm, which I definately didn’t make. I’ve got a PPP care alarm set up, so this is the first time it's popped up on my bill. I’ll keep an eye out for it from now on.

Every month my Virgin bill shows a 21 second call costing 26p to 08456023069 from my landline. I never dial this number myself, so it’s confusing how it gets listed as a call I made. How is it possible for my account to say I called it when I didn’t?

My mum’s phone bill showed a mysterious number popping up 23 times just in January 2023. She’s never called or dialled that number herself. These calls mostly happened at really odd hours, like around 3.55am, 5.38am, 3.10am, and even 4.04am. Mum’s 98, can’t hear properly without her aid and hardly ever rings anyone. Yet somehow, nearly 9 minutes got used up on her call allowance because of these strange calls.

PPP care alarms keep charging me about £10 a month automatically, which is a bit annoying.

My elderly family member had to switch their phone number just to get these charges off their detailed phone bill. The fake fees kept going up every month. Neither the careline company nor the phone provider seemed bothered. Only when OFCOM Fraud Alert got involved did anyone seem to care. They charged her £15 to change the number, plus all the trouble that came with it. There’s definitely something dodgy going on here, especially since many reports mention it targeting older people. Don’t ignore this, loads of folks must be getting ripped off every month.

This number keeps appearing on my mum’s phone bill every month and she gets charged 15p each time. What’s odd is the calls happen in the middle of the night when she’s definitely not picking up. When I set up call safe, there’s this withheld number added to her approved contacts and I can’t get rid of it. I even tried blocking it, but the withheld number stays there - I’m guessing it’s this same number on the approved list. If they’re actually ringing her, why does she have to pay for it? It’s really confusing.

Every month, this number charges me 14p on my phone. From what others have said, it seems linked to my mum's ppp care alarm, but we never actually ring them, so it's probably some kind of automatic check. I did ring ppp and they updated the number to a freephone one now.

this phone belongs to Age UK ppp alarm for elderly folks. we have been trying to get these monthly automatic fees of about £10 cancelled but no one seems to help. we’re now planning to cancel the whole thing. it feels like a scam, really awful since it’s supposed to be charity. total fraudsters.

We noticed that there’s been a bunch of calls billed to us from this number, about a dozen or so, even though we never rang it. It all began just after my mum got that help alarm fitted - the one she’s meant to use if she has a fall! What a weird coincidence.

Something really odd happened to my parents recently. They got their landline bill from Virgin Media and noticed some charges for calls to 0845 6023069 between 21 January and 7 February. These calls popped up at strange times - sometimes late at night, other times early morning, or even in the afternoon. Each call lasted around 20 seconds and cost roughly 16p. Usually their bill is about £28 but this time it jumped to £35. When Dad rang Virgin, they said they couldn’t track who made the calls and insisted it was my mum and dad who made them, so they’d have to pay. That 0845 number is apparently a premium rate one. Virgin mentioned you can block the number, but didn’t explain how exactly to do it. Bit confusing really.

My 89-year-old uncle has been charged by Virgin Media for calls from the number 08456023069 over a period from Nov 2020 to Feb 2021. He rang up their billing team to say he never dialled this number and had no idea who it was, asking for a refund. They just told him to block the number on his phone! But how's an elderly man like him supposed to do that?? Virgin Media ought to know about this number and take responsibility to block it themselves!!

Over the past few weeks, my 95 year old mother has gotten four calls from this number. Every time she answers, she's been charged for the call - like 14p for 25 seconds, 14p for 26 seconds, then 29p for just over a minute, and 31p for about one and a half mins. It’s really annoying her, especially since she’s on a tight budget. She’s already signed up with the Telephone Preference Service too, so this is pretty frustrating.

I’m currently dealing with the Age UK alarm system for my elderly mum, who, bless her, seems to activate it more often than she realises. She’s adamant that she’s not pressing it, yet I’ve been present during a few of these 'incidents'. She prefers to wear it on her wrist instead of around her neck, which I suspect is making it more prone to accidental triggering! Over the past billing quarter, it’s been activated a staggering 33 times, leading to a charge of £6.45 plus VAT. It’s a relatively modest price for peace of mind knowing there’s a 24/7 support service available, though! I’ve heard that the alarm service might be able to assess the situation to see if there’s a way to reduce the frequency of these false alarms. Just sharing this in case it helps anyone else with elderly relatives!

This is the alarm service from Age UK. My mum, who’s quite elderly, keeps accidentally triggering it - though she denies doing so, I’ve actually seen it happen. She prefers wearing the device on her wrist rather than round her neck, where it wouldn’t get bumped as much! Over the past three months, she’s dialled the service 33 times, which added up to about £6.45 plus VAT on our phone bill. I guess it’s a small cost for peace of mind, knowing their 24-hour support is reliable. I think they might be able to adjust the alarm sensitivity so it doesn’t go off so easily. Hopefully this is useful for others with older family members!

My mum, who’s quite old, suddenly had 11 calls listed on her phone bill that look like she called this number, some were more than 2 minutes long, and a whole bunch were really early in the morning which made us quite concerned. Age UK Alarm Call Monitoring is quite straightforward. They will only get in touch if you've hit the button yourself, or if your number is on their list to be notified when a loved one presses their button. It’s definitely not a case of unsolicited calls! My mum has been using this service for a decade, and they’ve only reached out in actual emergencies.

This is Age UK Alarm Call Monitoring. They won’t just phone you out of the blue - the only time they call is if you’ve actually pressed the emergency button or if your contact details are linked because someone you know has hit their alarm. It’s definitely not some random cold call! My mum’s had this setup going for about a decade now and the only times they’ve ever rung were related to possible emergencies.

Age UK alarm call monitoring is not one of those cold callers. They only contact you if you've actually pressed the alarm button or if your number’s linked to someone who’s pressed theirs, like a friend or family member. Mum’s had their system for about a decade, and they’ve only rung her in what seemed like real emergencies. Never just out of the blue.
