I got a call from a BT number about an urgent payment I had to make, then needed some help sorting out my account to combine my broadband and phone services. The first caller transferred me to this number to sort it out, so I never actually dialled it myself. Then I got charged £36 for a 43-minute call! I’m definitely going to complain because it’s not right at all, especially since nobody said I’d be paying for this!

Today, I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent on 0800 8766267 pretending to be from BT. She claimed our business phone bill was overdue and warned that our lines would be cut off by tomorrow morning. I told her the person who handles our accounts wasn’t around, so she gave me another number, 0845 6006156, to ring back and sort the payment. When I asked why the number was different, she said she was making outbound calls but that was the correct inbound contact. Felt fishy straight away, so I looked up the number and turns out it’s a total SCAM. Wouldn't recommend answering or calling back. Stay well clear!

A mate of mine just got charged £39.72 by EE for his mobile line. It’s ridiculous, especially considering that same number’s been flagged over 22,000 times as a scam pretending to be BT business broadband. This number needs to be blocked straight away, and phone companies ought to be doing more to shield their users rather than profiting from these scams.

My dad got this letter that looked proper official from BT saying he owed £102.96 for some charity he was helping out with like 5 years ago. The letter told him to ring 0845 600 6156 to sort payment. 0800 876 6267 called me at 14:12 on 10/8/22. The person was polite and said his name was Partha from BT billing. He claimed there was an unpaid bill from 5 July for £1,257.77. He also mentioned a business connected to the one I’m involved with. I didn’t recognise the partial account number he gave and he couldn’t tell me which building it was for, so I said I’d look into it and call back. He gave me a number 0845 600 6156 but I found that it’s not listed on BT’s official contact page. So I’m not planning to ring Partha back.

I got a letter from BT saying I’d supposedly ordered web hosting, which I never did, claiming I owed £75.25. The letter said the charge would increase daily if I didn’t pay. I tried emailing the address on the letter but it bounced straight back, so I just ignored it and deleted the message. When I phoned BT directly, they said it definitely sounded like a scam and warned me not to pay anything. I’ve just looked up the number here and it turns out it’s fake, just as I suspected. Luckily, I didn’t hand over any cash and avoided getting scammed.

While going through my BT phone statement, I spotted a couple of strange charges. I’m certain we didn’t press any buttons or agree to anything like that. There are two calls listed: one on Thursday 11th March at 1:36pm lasting nearly 51 minutes and costing £6.79, and another the same day at 8:20am for just over 2 minutes costing 45p, both to the number 08456006156. Plus, of course, VAT on top. Really odd, as we never would have dialled or interacted with that service.

This number belongs to BT Business. I had to get in touch with them about being charged too much, which they admitted and refunded me. But, calls from my BT cloud phone to 0845 numbers were blocked, so I had to use my mobile to phone them. BT have been using a premium phone number for checking unexpected charges on my bill. I got kept on hold a few times and didn’t realise I was being charged extra for calling from my mobile. It’s a total scam!

Got a threatening letter about debt collection from this number asking me to ‘call and discuss’. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

Got a call earlier today supposedly from BT, and the operator said her name was Saogat. She wanted to talk to me about some urgent payment. When I asked for some proof of who she was, the line just went dead. They told me to ring them back on 08456006156, but it definitely felt fishy.

This number rang me on 14th October 2020 and left me on hold for about 40 minutes claiming it was a BT line doing line checks. It's a total scam and ended up costing me more than £5 as a premium call. What a bloody rip off! It's a proper BT business scam. Be careful and don't get caught out by these fools!

Phoned BT to report a problem with my landline and broadband since I couldn't get through using O2 mobile. BT left me waiting on hold while they kept messing around running tests and that. Ended up with a £28 charge from O2 on top, lovely.

08456006156 Like many, I phoned BT to dispute a wrong and high charge. Ended up on hold forever and got bounced around to loads of different departments. I finally got my £18 back, but a month later I saw the call to sort things out cost me £28! That’s after they’d been charging me crazy amounts for my broadband, even though my contract ended two years ago. It wasn’t just a small difference, it was more than double. I’m never dealing with BT again, no chance.

Got a call from someone saying they're from BT saying my bill was late and my line would be cut off. I told them to text me the details but then they rang me back from a different number. Definitely sounded like a scam.

Got a call from BT business, they said they needed to talk to the manager right away about some unpaid bills. I told them to just send an email or invoice to our accounts team, but they insisted we must call 0845 600 6156 straight away and then they just hung up.

As soon as I pick up, this number calls again up to 4 times a day, saying there's an issue with my BT account - BUT HERE'S THE THING, WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A BT ACCOUNT!! We've also realised they use "number spoofing" so you can't tell who's actually calling.

I rang this BT number to sort out my broadband and ended up waiting on hold for more than half an hour. Then I discover they charged me almost £12 just for being on hold, and they didn’t even bother to pick up - they just hung up on me. Seriously, what chance do we have when BRITISH TELECOM charges you loads for calls without any warning it's a premium number!!!!!!!!!!!

Proper pissed off here!! Like loads of people stuck at home with lockdown, I had to ring BT about a billing issue and some dodgy product they sold me - I don’t need extra mobile wifi or whatever! Absolute rubbish help, probably cos they’re working from home too. Worst part, I wasn’t even told the BT number was premium rate and it ended up costing me £30 just for waiting on hold!! No surprise small businesses are failing all around when all the big firms keep getting their bonuses and tax cuts!

I’ve wasted so much money and over half a year on the phone with BT trying to sort out a mess with my business broadband bill. It was totally their fault - they somehow combined two separate accounts and sent me the bills. Loads of calls having to explain everything again and stuck on hold forever. Honestly, it’s too late for me now ? :) but if you care about your peace of mind, NEVER go for BT BUSINESS BROADBAND.

BT told me to call this number to fix a mistake on my bill, since our landline isn’t with BT anymore. I phoned from my mobile, but then got my mobile bill and they charged me £12.49 for a 17 minute call, when I was just telling them not to charge me at all - which they agreed to. BT should not be making customers call pricey numbers, especially when you’re stuck waiting ages on the phone.

I got a couple of letters, the second one said my payment was late. The company name was on the top but the address was my personal one. The first notice was an email that ended up in my spam folder, the next came by post. The invoice number on the account was wrong. The letter had printing on the back too, which felt a bit off. Luckily, someone mentioned this site to me so I could verify it. I’m planning to report it to the Police alerts.

05/03/2020 I got a letter from BT saying I had overpaid £7.20, they actually sent me a cheque for it. Later on, I got a mobile phone bill and spent about 27 and a half minutes on hold just trying to find out who was dealing with it, and the charge was £13.75. Fingers crossed theyre all stuck in the same office and some virus knocks em out. Do NOT answer this number! It’s BT.

This number belongs to BT. I’m actually a BT Business customer and tried ringing their line to arrange a direct debit. Surprisingly, they charged me £2.12 for making the call. Seems like a total rip-off from a company that’s so rubbish it probably should shut down.
