I see that you've got two different renditions of the number here. Could you clarify which one is the accurate one?

I wouldn't trust them at all - they never stick to what they say and always find some reason to wriggle out of their duties. Even with backing from Citizens Advice and other firms, they just don't seem to care. After about eighteen months, I got a call from them threatening to take more money from my bank, claiming I'd used their service, even though the phone blocker never worked at my place and I'd already sent it back. Their reasoning? The contract was supposedly void because the Christmas break held up the return, and apparently, their office got broken into. It's just one excuse after another.

I received a rather curious phone call today from a chap named John Sinclair, who claimed to be representing the Call Prevention Service and gave me the number 0845 474 9636. He proceeded to ask for my bank account details, insisting that this was the way to halt all those pesky nuisance calls. He mentioned that his superior was an individual called Sam, who subsequently rang me as well. Could this be some sort of scam?

So, I got a ring from some guy called Kevin? He kept going with some long-winded spiel about something, then brought up the prices. I told him straight I’m on benefits and not working atm. Oddly enough, he just said “right, goodbye” and hung up. Feels dodgy to me, definitely a scam!

Got caught out by a scam, sadly. They tricked me into paying £79 for some kind of box. Just now they called again claiming I gave them my password and that the charge was on my phone bill, which is rubbish because my bill is with SKY. Then she just suddenly ended the call. So annoyed right now!

Last year I got caught out and paid £79.99, and then just today I got a call saying my next payment of £89.99 was coming up. They tried to sweeten the deal by offering to send me a new box, saying that since I’m signed up for another 4 years, no further payments would be needed as a “loyal customer.” I told the lady the box never actually worked from the start, even though I complained a bunch and they kept sending me cables to fix it - totally pointless. I ended up ringing my bank to stop any payments going through to them, and they assured me if any money was taken, it would be refunded within a day and the company would be charged back.

Hey, The reports are spot on! These scammers operate out of various locations around Bournemouth and often go by different names like The Call Prevention Service or Pro Call Blocker. They seem to keep changing stuff to avoid getting caught.

I got a ring from this number, 0845 474 9636, and the person on the line said they were from the "do not call register". Since I'm already signed up with the TPS, I found it odd when they told me I wasn’t on it and offered to put me on. They went on about some sort of tech stuff about a box that didn’t add up with how I understand phones work. They knew where I lived and said they’d post the box before asking for payment. I told them not to send anything and that I wasn’t interested. Then, out of nowhere, the caller just hung up on me. Honestly, it felt like a scam, especially with all their talk about a government-backed scheme. Tim

I got a ring from a woman named Shannon who claimed for just £1.90 a month she could put an end to all my annoying calls. When I asked her where she’d found my number, she mentioned something about my area code being targeted with unwanted calls. She said she’d send me a device to hook up to my phone line that would stop the calls within 28 days. Suddenly, the £1.90 monthly fee turned into a one-time charge of £79.99, which I told her I certainly couldn’t afford. She said she’d phone me back in a couple of days, but I told her I wouldn’t have the money then either. After that, she claimed she couldn’t help me. I had a sneaky suspicion they’d soon want my bank details, which no way would I give out over the phone. A quick Google search of the number confirmed I did well not to proceed.

Got a random call from a woman going on about how annoying sales calls are and how CPS could send me a call blocker for just a quid postage, but because they support cancer charities, they wanted me to sign up for a three-year plan costing 79 quid upfront or £1.99 monthly by direct debit. She asked for my details, but I told her I’m part of the Staffordshire Trading Standards Watchdog Group and would report the call and their offer to Trading Standards. Right after that, she asked if I didn’t want the product and then just hung up.

I got a ring from this number, and the lady claimed they could help block annoying calls. She asked for a one-time fee of £79. When I told her I didn’t feel safe giving my card info on the phone and wanted to look into their business first, she just ended the call on me! Glad I didn’t hand over my bank stuff.

This number just rang me up, and I let the bloke explain everything. When he asked how I wanted to pay, I told him I didn’t have a card because I needed to look into it more first. After that, he said he couldn’t go on with it. The guy said his name was James, extension 180. Glad I didn’t go any further without checking!

Honestly, I have to say that the Pro Call Blocker from http://www.stopcomm.com/ turned out to be a total disappointment. They never pick up the phone themselves, and when their voicemail does take a message, nobody ever gets back to you. I'm actually getting ready to report Stop-Box at 49-51 Seabourne Road, Bournemouth, BH1 1BL, Tel: 0845 474 9636, to Kent Trading Standards, hoping they'll deal with them like those pesky saltwater crocs. Meanwhile, I'd strongly advise steering clear of Stop Comm - sorry if I led anyone to believe otherwise.

I guess I have to eat some humble pie here and forget about my worries over saltwater crocodiles. The stuff I ordered finally arrived and it works fine. Besides the wait for Stop Call Ltd to get back to me, I really can’t grumble about anything.

Well, another person got tricked into handing over £80 - fingers crossed they’re spending it on a lovely holiday and get to say hello to a famished saltwater croc!

The caller on my end was Danny, using extension 472. Now, when I try the number this morning, there’s just no response.

I got scammed and now I’m just waiting for my money back after calling them loads of times. I rang again on Monday and a girl promised she’d sort it out right away. This mess has been dragging on since the 12th of June. Be careful with these people - I’m about to report them to trading standards soon.

A bloke named Aaron called me saying all annoying calls would be blocked within 28 days. He even had my bank’s name and the initial four digits of my debit card. Watch out for this CPS lot - as far as I can tell, they’re not legit. Those card digits can be found on some online data dumps. Don’t hand over any more info; with just a few numbers, they can’t access your account. Make sure you report them!

I got a call from someone called John, extension 147, saying he'd make all my unwanted calls stop within 28 days if I paid a monthly charge. He then asked for my bank details, which I obviously refused to give, so I just hung up on him.
