I just got a phone call from someone claiming that some company owes me bitcoin. The person on the line had a thick accent and was really hard to make out. They got quite aggressive and said I could lose the money if I ended the call. Totally a scam though - I’d definitely know if I owned any bitcoin!

The number just looked a bit dodgy, so I decided to hang up and put it on my blocklist straight away.

I only have numbers saved for people I know in my phone. So if my phone rings and it doesn’t show a name, I just let it go straight to voicemail. They can always text me anyway because they already have my number. I never pick up calls from unknown numbers, just to be safe. If by chance I do answer one and it turns out to be a scam attempt, I keep one of those old-fashioned police whistles nearby. I tell them I need to say something important and to concentrate, then I blow the whistle right into the handset. Weird, but it usually puts an end to it! - Andy and Liz

Complete scam alert! They claimed they’d sorted a PPI payout from my bank for £2550 plus £1550 interest. When I told them my bank was “Bank of Paris” (which doesn’t exist), they didn’t catch on. Then they gave me a reference and ID number, saying they never ask for bank or card info. They told me the money was in some kind of ‘wallet’ thing. Then they handed me over to another guy, an Asian bloke, who asked for those ref and ID numbers again. I gave him completely made-up ones, and he got confused. Next he asked for my phone number to ‘check’ the numbers. Then he gave me different ID and ref numbers, claiming those were right. He said I wasn’t tech-savvy and offered to help me get into the wallet. Then he told me to put my phone on loudspeaker (for some reason) and download an app called Anydesk from the Play Store. This app lets him take control of my phone remotely to nick bank details, passwords, and who knows what else. These con artists really need shutting down. Definitely reported to the police and FCA for phishing. Stay safe out there!

I answered but didn’t get to say a word before they cut the call. They keep ringing me, switching up the numbers all the time. Honestly, I’m so fed up with it now.

If you get any spam or scam calls, just send them to 7726 like the government says. It won’t cost you a penny and your phone provider gets notified so they can block and deal with it. Pretty handy, really.

Looks like the moderators have cleared out loads of rubbish clogging up the 'Dangerous Numbers' comments. To me, that just shows scammers reckon this site’s important enough to target.

loads of folks already pointed out that this scammer's name is stuart wright, a con artist with a criminal record. I tried to talk to him at his place, 133 Anglian Way in Coventry, CV3 1QR, but he just got nasty and shouted at me. Fingers crossed someone puts this bloke in his place soon!

I actually find those personal injury calls quite funny. I usually say that even though I’d knocked back a fair few whiskies before the crash, I was still completely in charge of the car. It’s great fun to mess with them like that!

"they say they gather info to improve their methods" - well, if that’s what they’re doing, it’s definitely not showing. That bit up there, from last June 24th, honestly sounds like something a scammer might say just to make people question services like this. It kinda matches the way some folks just can’t believe these sites have any good reason to exist.

Honestly, I reckon these sites are just set up by the folks behind those annoying calls. They grab the details you enter to improve how they ring you. I mean, why else would someone spend money building and running a site that's meant to be free? People, time to open your eyes!

Your number isn’t personally targeted. It’s all done with an autodialler that goes through a whole range of phone numbers. Basically, they’re just dialing every number in that set automatically.

Got a robo call saying my internet'd be disconnected in 4 hours or something. Just put the phone down and blocked the number straight away.

I found myself slapped with a surprise charge of over £55 for a seemingly random two-hour call on my mobile that I didn’t even place. After some digging, it turned out to be a service call to Kia in Burntwood, but when I called from a landline to verify, there was no trace of it at all! I reached out to my mobile provider and thankfully managed to sort out a refund. It got me thinking, though-how many others out there might be paying for calls they never made or simply overlooked on their bills? It’s quite concerning, isn’t it?

I've just been hit with a bill claiming I chatted on this number for 57 minutes. The truth is, I didn’t answer that call at all! It's baffling, really, as I steer clear of these sorts of numbers.

Got a call with a recorded voice telling me I'd won a £250 voucher and to press a button. Didn't trust it, so I just blocked the number.

I’ve just been hit with an unexpected phone bill of £60 for a service call dated 17/03/26. It states I was on the line for a whopping two hours! What a surprise this has turned out to be.

Got billed £160 for supposedly calling this number at 10.45pm and being on the phone for over four hours. Tried to sort it out but they don’t seem interested in helping at all.

I keep getting voicemails because I can't pick up while I'm at work. The message says to press X to stop getting calls, so I reckon it’s a recorded message set up since my voicemail is my own voice.

Typical rubbish scam about "winning" a £500 voucher? Oh great, free cash, I better ring back! Nope, I’ve got enough sense to ignore it and reported it straight away on the ICO site. This is how you fight back - the TPS can’t really do much except keep a blacklist, but the ICO? You go there, report the number and details, and maybe finally these pests will get caught and stopped quicker.

Dont you think it would help if the folks giving out these irritating numbers were told that people are getting bugged, and that they should reclaim the numbers theyve given out? And if they dont listen, they should get a warning about a big fine. That way maybe this mess would get sorted out.

Got a robotic voice saying "congratulations" then I just ended the call. I think it’s illegal to ring up with recorded messages. If loads of folks complain about this number to the Information Commission https://ico.org.uk/concerns/ maybe they’ll take action at last.
