I’m not too sure, but the calls seem to end once they hit the answerphone. That’s probably the easiest way to stop these annoying calls.

I presumed I was facing some financial difficulties and was hoping to receive a return call from a representative.

This is definitely a scam. The call just drops and the line goes dead. They’re banking on you calling back, which then racks up expensive charges that they profit from. Best thing to do is just ignore the call and block the number straight away.
