My 90 year old neighbour got a phone call from someone pretending to be BT. They chatted her up and somehow she ended up handing over her bank details. Now she’s really anxious thinking she’s been tricked - which she has been, sadly. Be careful everyone!

Earlier today, these folks rang up my elderly mum who's a bit slow on the uptake. She ended up giving them all her bank info and date of birth after they kept chatting to her for ages and wore her out. I'm so angry about it. I've told her first thing in the morning to get in touch with her bank and ask them to block any transactions from a company called iTalk - that’s the name they gave.

My 90 year old mum got a call from these lot claiming to offer cheaper calls than BT. They wouldn’t let her off the phone for ages, about 20 minutes or so. Luckily, she didn’t fall for it and refused to switch. They kept pushing to send her some kind of sign-up pack. These companies are just freeloaders, and BT couldn’t care less about putting a stop to them.

I’ve been trying to get in touch with Italk to cancel my account since I’m still in the 14 day cooling-off window, but the phone number they gave just isn’t ringing through or doesn’t seem to exist at all. Really frustrating!

Somebody phoned me claiming they were with italk and said they ran Openreach too, trying to arrange free calls for me. I asked for their phone number, and they gave me 0845 373 4290. I checked with BT afterwards and they told me it was a phishing scam.
