I believe this call is from the fraud prevention team at Ulster Bank.

Received a call, picked up the phone, but there was silence on the other end.

I received a rather peculiar call from them earlier today. The very first thing they requested was my debit card number, which, of course, they didn’t obtain as I’m not even an Ulster Bank patron! When I queried the oddity of them asking for such sensitive information before even knowing my name, we ended up having a rather spirited exchange. They insisted that my debit card number was necessary to access the alleged 'fraud' case they were on about. Curiously, when I inquired about how they had managed to acquire my phone number, they concocted some story about phone providers recycling numbers and that’s how they got hold of mine. When I pointed out that I’ve had the same mobile number for 18 years, he began to ramble on incoherently. In the end, he promised to have his manager remove my information from their database. I then decided to contact my actual bank to verify everything. Once I relayed the details of the call, they quickly informed me that I had indeed encountered a scam, allegedly from someone with a Scottish accent! Fortunately, my account remains untouched. Please, do take caution regarding these sorts of calls!
