I received an authentic call from Sainsbury's fraud prevention team, verifying a balance transfer I recently arranged when I opened a new credit card account. The whole conversation was automated, and I wasn't asked for any sensitive information like my address or card details. They simply wanted me to confirm my date of birth from three options provided. Essentially, I was just confirming that the balance transfer amount they mentioned was, indeed, accurate and could proceed. If I had discovered any discrepancies, they would have transferred me to someone from the fraud department, but fortunately, everything matched up perfectly for me.

I experienced something quite similar. They claimed to be from Halifax's fraud department and tried to solicit my credit card details. Naturally, I didn't part with any of my information and instead contacted my credit card provider directly. Whatever you do, don’t share any personal details with these fraudsters. They're definitely not who they say they are!

Please refrain from replying to this. We popped into our nearby Halifax branch, and it was clear that the staff were utterly baffled by the situation. I took the step to cancel our credit card, and to our relief, we discovered that three recent charges we weren't familiar with had, fortunately, been rejected.

I received a voicemail from someone claiming to be from Halifax's scam prevention team, urging me to return their call using the same number they called from. I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Received a recorded message claiming to be from the Halifax fraud department, urging us to get in touch as soon as possible. However, once I dialled in, I was merely left hanging on the line!
