I've started getting calls from this number over the last few weeks. It appears to be linked to someone from "Barclaycard", or so we suspect.

I received a call from this number, claiming to be Barclaycard, but I couldn’t answer in time. The message said their office was shut at the moment. However, I checked their hours and they’re supposed to be open from Tuesday through Friday, 9am to 9pm. It's currently Wednesday and the clock shows 1:45am, which leaves me a bit perplexed. What’s going on here?

I recently discovered that this number is linked to Mercers, operating through Calder Financial, who collect debts for Barclaycard. It seems they like to switch up their numbers frequently to sidestep harassment claims and to play tricks on unsuspecting individuals into picking up the phone. Quite deceptive, if you ask me!

It’s quite plausible that Calders is behind this, as I’ve experienced similar situations where they’ve changed their numbers to try and fool us. Capital One certainly managed to catch us off guard with their antics. I’ve made it very clear to all our creditors that they shouldn’t reach out to us via phone, but you’d think that might deter them. Instead, it seems to only encourage them to ring even more frequently! At one stage, we were receiving calls up to eight times a day from various numbers. What's particularly frustrating is that these calls often come in when I’m at work and unable to pick up. We're resolute in not giving them any business by ringing back on their 0845 numbers.
