This morning, 20th March, I got a call from a woman saying she was from Openreach. I asked her name and for a direct number to call her back on, but all she’d give me was that 0845 number, admitting it probably wouldn’t be answered. She dodged loads of questions and lied about most things, even claiming Openreach isn't part of BT anymore. Then she got a bit rude and just hung up. What really gets me is that the Openreach website doesn’t have any scam warning or a proper contact number or email, not even details on how to reach Ofcom. Feels like they don’t care or want to help at all!

Today I got a call from this pushy woman claiming she was from Openreach, talking about free calls or something. She said she’d ring back but when I checked Openreach online, it didn’t seem legit at all. Definitely a scam. These folks are such a nuisance, just ignore them. I haven’t done anything wrong. BT really should do something about this. I get loads of calls like this every day and the TPS isn’t any use at all.

Got a call from some bloke named Lee claiming he's with Openreach about free call offers. He wasn’t interested in broadband at first, just kept asking how much I pay monthly for calls. Then weirdly switched to asking which broadband provider I use. Told him I'd check my last bill online for the call charges, then he just said cheers and abruptly ended the call. Proper annoying! Grrr.

They kept on insisting and soon started asking for my banking info, which made me hang up straight away. The number they called from was 08452866741. Honestly, the TPS doesn't seem to do much good.

This number called me again just a few days after the last time. A woman who kept pushing without even saying her name said she wanted to arrange unlimited calls for me. When I mentioned I had looked up her number before and it wasn’t linked to BT at all, she switched and claimed she represented Openreach. I explained that Openreach only sorts out cables, not phone calls, and I wasn’t falling for any scam calls. She kept denying it, saying she wasn’t doing any marketing or cold calling, even after I told her I’m ex-directory and on the TPS list. Ended up having to hang up on her!

Got a call from this number today, and the guy asked for me specifically by my name. He claimed he was ringing to arrange some free calls that I supposedly qualify for. When I asked which company he was representing, he said "Calls Unlimited, connected with Openreach." But I know that Openreach is a wholesale network company that doesn’t deal with customers directly; they supply firms like BT Retail, Plusnet, and other phone and broadband providers.

Got a phone call earlier from this number, some bloke saying I had to sort out my free calls or something to do with Openreach. I told him I already had free calls sorted, and asked how I could be sure he was legit. He asked who my provider was, but something felt off so I just ended the call. Later on, I looked up the number online here to see if it was dodgy.

Some lady rang me up, sounded nice, and asked straight for me by name. I had a feeling it was one of those sales calls, but then she claimed it was about some deal we'd supposedly agreed to for getting assistance with free calls. Thinking my husband might've organised something phone-related, I told her he usually sorts out phone stuff and went to find him. But just as I handed him the phone, she had the cheek to hang up on us! Really rude, cheap, and a horrible sales tactic. This company seriously needs to be called out!

I got a call like that recently, and the person on the other end wouldn’t say who they were or why they wanted to speak to the account holder. They claimed the free calls hadn’t started yet. Not sure why folks are moaning so much, honestly. I got a call from a polite young bloke, I think his name was Don? He was upfront with me about how Italk works - they use Openreach lines, which are different from Virgin's cable lines. I actually listened to him and ended up saving a fair bit. I used to pay £89 a month on my phone bill, now it's fixed at £58 for two years. Saves me £30 each month, which might not sound huge, but for a 77-year-old pensioner like me, that’s a decent chunk. They sent me all the documents they promised, and I can’t complain. When I had a question, I got through to a real person here in the UK who sorted out my billing issue. Proper chuffed with how things are going so far!

Today I got a call from this number. The person on the other end tried to convince me they were from BT by saying there was some kind of "issue" with my account plan. They pitched a deal that sounded pretty good at first. But when I asked for all the info to be sent through in writing, the caller suddenly turned quite rude and started calling me impolite! An older gentleman answered a call from this number recently, where a man claimed he could give a cheaper deal than her current one with BT. He seemed to know loads about her, which was a bit worrying, and kept pushing her to hand over her bank info. When she said no, he got all annoyed, even going as far as offering his own bank details to prove he was legit! The bloke was quite aggressive and just wouldn’t accept her refusal. She asked for his company name and a way to get back to him, but he refused to give any of that info. Luckily she ended the call without sharing anything personal. When I asked how she got my number, she said it was because they own the phone lines and have everyone’s details. I said I thought Openreach didn’t handle call packages, but she insisted they did and told me to check the top of my bill for "BT Openreach." I got a call from this pushy lady who seemed pretty rude and called me out by my name. She went off real quick about some free phone calls. When I asked who she was with, she wouldn’t say the company’s name, just kept going on about how they ‘run on the BT Open Reach platform’. I asked again for the company name and she snapped at me, saying ‘fine, no free calls for you then’ before hanging up abruptly. What creeped me out was she actually got my name right, and my surname’s not easy to pronounce, which usually puts off scammers and cold callers.

He tried to sell me a “plan” with some company called ITAL, claiming I’d save on calls. I told him I wasn’t interested, and he turned a bit rude, so I just told him to get lost and hung up. Like many others here, I haven’t taken up the free calls offer. When I told them I’m not the one paying the bill, plus the actual bill payer has hearing difficulties and isn’t interested in a contract, they assured me there’d be no contract involved. I asked them to share all the info in writing so the bill payer could decide properly. A whole month has passed and still no sign of any details. I can’t help but think there must be a reason for the silence - maybe it’s not quite as great as they make out!

Get yourself one of those call blockers like CPR, and you’ll be able to chill without getting hassled by all those telemarketers ringing non-stop. It’s proper handy for keeping your phone calm from those annoying sales calls.

Got a ring from this number earlier, someone saying they were from OpenReach and telling me I don’t have a free calls plan. Now, I might not know everything but I’m pretty sure OpenReach only deals with phone lines, not the billing or anything to do with call plans - that stuff is all down to BT itself, not one of their branches. Plus, whoever called clearly wasn’t from BT because they'd know I've got BT Unlimited Anytime Calls sorted.

I got a call from this number the other day. It was a woman with an English accent saying she was from Openreach. She told me I hadn’t activated my ‘free calls’ package yet. She knew my name and my postcode, which made me a bit wary. Some of her questions were odd, like asking if we have emergency electrical gear, such as pull cords for elderly or disabled folks. I told her to email me the details of this offer so I could have a proper look later. She said they only send contracts after agreements are finalised, which sounded a bit dodgy to me. When I asked for a number to call her back, she refused. I mentioned I’d ring Openreach’s official customer service myself to check this out. That seemed to annoy her, and I ended the call shortly after.

This number called me but ended the call before I could answer. Big thanks to everyone who flagged this number, as I’ve now added it to my CPR call blocker - I’d suggest anyone who can get one to do so. They’re getting cheaper, so if money’s tight, maybe wait a bit. I paid £50 for mine, but I’ve seen other versions going for as little as £24, and I reckon prices will drop even more. It’s well worth the cost, as it’s really cut down on the calls I get. Also, I made a little YouTube reply to these callers - you might find it handy to play to them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5It-vXyYNa4

I had a caller ring me up today, claiming I hadn't activated my unlimited calling plan. I quickly told the woman I wasn’t interested in her sales spiel and definitely wasn’t handing over any personal info. She got a bit annoyed, insisting it wasn’t a scam and that all she wanted to know was if I had the unlimited calls set up. She went on about how it’s some kind of service they routinely offer to all Openreach lines every six months or so. Eventually, she said that if I didn’t want to change anything, she’d just leave me on my current billing plan and then abruptly hung up on me.

I got a call from them today, and honestly, I hung up right after hearing the first sentence of their spiel. Then, my phone rang three more times straight away, but nobody spoke when I answered - probably the annoyed operator I cut off earlier. The whole telephone preference scheme is a joke - I get about two cold calls daily and just hang up each time. Some folks here reckon this might be a ‘scam’, but to me, a scam is a proper con. This just feels like boring, classic telesales pushing some phone service, which is just super irritating.

I got a call about cheaper calls and when I wouldn’t give my bank info, the woman on the line got really rude.

I’m on the x directory and these calls are driving me mad. They keep calling me about 3 or 4 times every single day. Honestly, it’s getting way too much to handle.

My mum answered a call where they claimed they’d slash our quarterly bills to a flat £45, down from £76.50. When she handed the phone over to me, I asked for their identity. They said "BT Openreach," but seemed clueless that I’m actually the one who pays the bills. Then out of nowhere, they asked if we had a Careline connected. When I confirmed, they said it meant a different package at a different price and someone else would ring back from another team. I questioned why that mattered, since a Careline wired in shouldn’t change anything, but they just repeated themselves and then ended the call. Something felt off, so I used 1471 to get their number and googled 08452866741. Turns out, heaps of people complain about them pretending to be BT Openreach. I reckon they’re ready to lie just to push sales, but smart enough not to mess dangerously with Careline setups. Bit of a relief, but still dodgy all round!

These folks are just hopeless scammers, honestly. They should be grabbed and punished properly. If ever I come across them, I won't hold back, that’s for sure.

I've chatted to loads of folks around Northern Ireland, and it seems only those on BT are getting these calls. A guy named Paul told me my info was given by BT, but BT say otherwise and won’t let me switch my number. With my health not great right now, getting knocked up to 4 or 5 times a day by people who clearly haven’t got a clue is really stressful.

Didn’t pick up cos they called me before 7 o’clock on a Saturday morning, which is just not on, way too early and totally unacceptable to ring at that time on weekend mornings. This needs sorting out, there’s too much moaning and not enough doing about these things. That’s why civil rights protests and campaigns happen, right? If not, what’s the point? Otherwise we might as well just live in caves haha!

They kept ringing my phone non-stop, so I ended up hitting 2. Soon after, I got another call from some bloke pitching free call deals. Had to mention that this was a business number though. Now I’m waiting to see if they bother calling again...

I'm dealing with these annoying calls too. Whenever that pre-recorded message comes on saying something about "free calls," I just press 2 straight away. When they call back, I say "hold on a sec, please" and then mute myself, leaving them waiting till they finally hang up. It’s a bit of a cheeky trick but it’s the only way to get some peace.

They ring me about three or four times a week, no joke. Tried checking the number using 1471, but it never worked, so I pressed 2 instead. Was told I’d get a callback within 48 hours. True enough, two days later, this rude woman calls demanding to speak to whoever pays the bill. When I asked what it was about, she said I showed interest in free calls. I pretended to be interested just to suss it out, then asked who the company was. She begrudgingly said it was “Calls Unlimited” connected with BT. I told her to remove my number because I’m on the TPS, and then she just hung up on me. Still, they keep calling non-stop! Properly fed up with it now!

So these lot claimed they could give me unlimited calls and internet for 32 quid, said they were with BT Openreach. When I asked who they really worked for, they just went quiet and cut the call.

We keep getting nonstop calls from "Calls Unlimited," they just keep blasting our number with these automated calls. When you try to find out who they are, they either get cheeky, claim they're from BT Openreach, or just cut off the call. Even after a few of us have told them to take the number off their list, the relentless ringing doesn't stop. It's like they just don't listen.

This number called me too, then suddenly the call just dropped without a word. If anyone else’s had a run-in with them, drop a comment below - maybe together we can figure out what these nuisances are up to!

Can anyone tell me who was on the end of this number? I picked up but didn’t hear a single word from whoever it was. Cheers!
