I've received a total of four calls from this number today, each accompanied by a recorded message left on my answerphone. It's driving me absolutely bonkers, especially since there's a cost every time I check the messages. I thought being registered with the Telephone Preference Service would put a stop to these nuisance calls!

I keep receiving incessant calls from this number, and since my phone shows incoming numbers, I never pick up calls from those I don’t recognise-or from those pesky "Out of Area", international, or withheld numbers. It's utterly maddening! I work shifts, so I often find myself being jolted awake by these calls. Some friends have suggested disconnecting my phone or silencing it, but with elderly parents and my son travelling around Eastern Europe, Asia, and South America, I’m too worried I might miss a vital call. Is there any way to put an end to these bothersome calls? I've signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, but it appears to have little effect! So frustrating! GRRRRRRR!!!!!

Received a couple of calls this morning from the number 0845 286 5980, one at 10:18 and another at 11:18. It was an automated message claiming I was eligible for a refund - but I’ve no clue what refund they were on about! They instructed me to press 1 to provide my details, couldn’t recall what 2 was, and 3 was supposedly for confirming I’ve already received the refund. Naturally, I didn’t engage with any buttons and hung up instead. Strangely, the line remained active after I terminated the call, and I’m now unable to make outgoing calls. A technician from Virgin Media is scheduled to come out tomorrow. I remember seeing a piece in the news recently indicating this could be a scam, and that hitting any of those options could potentially compromise my computer and passwords, which is quite worrying. Has anyone else come across this issue and what might happen if you do engage? Gordon

It seems that this is a company dealing with PPI claims, and when you get in touch, all you get is a pre-recorded message. Quite annoying, isn't it? Just another nuisance call, if you ask me!
