This number kept ringing me up like 4 times today and kept leaving messages on my voicemail [all were just recorded]. It's really annoying since we have to pay to listen to them. Plus, we’re already signed up with the TPS!

I get calls all the time from unknown numbers, but since I've got caller ID, I never pick up if the number isn't familiar or is from an international, withheld, or out-of-area source. It’s so frustrating. I do shift work and these calls wake me up more often than I’d like. People keep telling me to just switch off the phone or mute it, but I can’t risk missing something important because I’ve got elderly parents and a son who travels loads across Eastern Europe, Asia, and South America. It’s a nightmare! I’ve signed up with the TPS but honestly, it hasn’t helped a bit. Honestly, these calls are driving me mad!!!!!!

Got two calls today from 0845 286 5980, one at around 10:20 am and the other about an hour later. It was one of those automated calls saying I have a refund ready. They asked me to press 1 to give my details, 2 for something else I can’t quite recall, and 3 if I already got the refund. Didn’t press any buttons and just hung up straight away. Even after hanging up, the call stayed active and I couldn’t dial out. Virgin Media is sending an engineer tomorrow to have a look. A few weeks back I saw an article warning about this scam - that if you press any number, they might get remote access to your device and snag your passwords. Has anyone else come across this and what happened next? Cheers, Gordon.

I got a phone call from some PPI claims firm, and it was just a recorded voice message - total telemarketer rubbish.
