I never took a loan, so I’m pretty sure I couldn’t have paid more than I owed, even though they kept insisting on it. They’ve got all sorts of lines just to mess with you. I also get calls asking for a Mr White or Mr Brown, and as soon as I say they’ve got the wrong person, they try to pitch some product over the phone. It’s like they’ll use any name or excuse to get you to listen in.

I’m so glad for Android’s caller ID, spotted the 08 number and just ignored it since I never pick up unknown 08 numbers. Luckily, they haven’t bothered me again since.

Got a call at about 10.34 pm. My husband, who's 70 and recovered from heart surgery, was already in bed. When you get a call that late, your first thought is something serious has happened to the family. I was really annoyed, especially since the moment I tried to press 1 to talk to someone, they just ended the call. There really ought to be stricter rules to stop these annoying nuisance calls.

If what the person above said is true about this being some government energy scheme where you have to fork out £399 upfront so an assessor can visit, then I really don’t think it’s genuine. If it were legit, I’d expect it to be a private company behind it, because I can’t imagine any government foolish enough to support a scheme charging that much from the public, especially with the way the economy is now. £399 is quite steep, even for someone who's doing okay, just for an assessor visit, no matter what the promised savings might be later.

They asked for loads of my info, then dropped the catch: I’d have to cough up £399 to have an assessor visit, which they said I’d get back eventually. I just ended the call. I looked up the number they called from and couldn’t find any legit website linked to it, which seemed dodgy to me. Not sure if it’s a scam or legit, but thought I’d share in case it helps anyone else.
