I block all calls from 0845 since most are dodgy scammers, and if they’re legit, they’ll find another method to get in touch. Honestly, sod ‘em all and send them back where they came from.

They said they were from the "Energy Service". I asked straight away if they were really from the Press. That mattered since we're a Secure Facility and anyone coming in needs a Visitors Pass. Plus, the person they wanted to see isn't always safe to approach on certain days.

I let the calls ring out without answering. Within just three days, I received three calls, but each time, as soon as my voicemail started, the calls dropped! I dialled 1471 afterwards and this number popped up. There seems to be quite a few unfavourable reviews about it online.

11/07/2018 10:30 in the morning, phone rang while I was listening to Popmaster on Radio 2. I was a bit annoyed but picked up anyway. Now, I make sure to listen before saying anything. There was music playing first, then a guy with a working-class accent said "Hello". I was tempted to just hang up. Instead, I just kept quiet and let them talk. We’ve got both an answerphone and the 1571 call return system. They ought to start by saying their company and their name. Then I ask, "Is this a sales call?" If they avoid the question, I just reply, "Sorry, not interested today".

"Shared Cost" basically means what it sounds like - if you get a call from them, even a missed one on your mobile, you could be charged loads of money. If you’re unsure, just search “Shared Cost” on Google or check Wikipedia. There’s loads of articles about this too. Not sure if it affects landlines, fingers crossed not, but I had a missed call from them. Consider this number HIGHLY RISKY.

Some bloke rang claiming to be carrying out an energy survey and said they were digging up the road outside to check the energy lines. I told him it’s a council house and then he just hung up. I received a rather peculiar phone call today. Initially, there was a snippet of music, which seemed quite odd, before a woman came on the line asking to speak with my daughter. I informed her that my daughter was currently at her workplace. Then, she proceeded to inquire whether my daughter still owned our house. I found it baffling, as my husband and I purchased this property thirty years ago when we tied the knot. When I pressed her about where she had obtained such inaccurate information, she stammered and I firmly told her not to contact us again and that I would be reporting her company. I did a bit of digging online and discovered they've already faced penalties amounting to a quarter of a million. Honestly, it’s time they were shut down! Been getting calls from this unknown number like 4 times over the past two days. I just don’t pick up. After reading other comments, I reckon I’ll just put it on my block list.

My home phone gets calls from this number at least two times daily, never missing a day, so blocking it isn’t really an option. I once picked up and it was just dead silence. I checked the number on a few sites like this one and nearly all the comments say it’s either a scam or annoying telemarketers. Seriously, don’t answer it.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with energy saving windows, asking for me by name. He said they’re working nearby and offering a free inspection. Then, he mentioned the office would call back to set up an appointment, but both me and my partner would need to be home for it. After reading all the reviews, it just felt a bit fishy to me.

I picked up the phone and heard some music first, then a voice saying hello. When I replied, they wanted to talk to whoever owns the house. I explained it’s a council property, and then they promised not to call me back.

How much longer will the Government leave us to deal with these annoying calls? You'd have thought that reported numbers would get blocked by now. If you dont recognise the number, best just to ignore it; if it’s something important, they’ll leave a voicemail anyway.

It's quite straightforward, really. If the number isn't familiar to you, just let it ring. A quick search on Google with the phrase "who owns this number" will usually do the trick - and you'll get your information in no time!
