I received a call that supposedly came from the "UK Public Information Centre." They wasted no time assuring me that it wasn't a sales pitch. However, they proceeded to inquire about any loans I might have taken out between 2000 and 2009. When I probed further about whether they were publicly or privately funded, they admitted to being a private firm, which immediately set off alarm bells for me. I ended the conversation right then. What on earth could their angle be if they're claiming not to be selling anything?
