My son rang this number for Direct Line on the 7th of February, 2011, and before he knew it, he’d been on the line for 1 hour and 45 seconds, blissfully unaware that the clock was ticking. The end result was a hefty bill amounting to £6.60! Just a word of caution for anyone else considering this number-keep an eye on the time!

I didn't receive any replies at all.

I gave Direct Line a bell regarding some erroneous insurance paperwork we received, and lo and behold, Tesco hit me with a bill for 22 seconds of chatting - a whopping £5.72! Clearly, there's a mistake here with those charges. If this is how they operate, I might think twice before considering them for our insurance needs in the future!

Indeed, this was the genuine number for Direct Line. What they conveniently neglect to tell you is that while you're sitting in the queue, they're racking up charges at NG1 rates. We only waited a few seconds to connect with someone, but the entire call lasted 29 minutes, and we ended up being billed £2.57 by our phone provider! Quite the surprise, isn’t it?
