I received a call from 01353337392 and when I returned the call, an automated voice instructed me to dial 08452371122 instead. After ringing that number, I found myself on hold for ages, listening to a monotonous message about being in a queue. I persevered for a whole half-hour before I finally decided to hang up. You might wonder why I waited so long - the reason is that I was anticipating an important call from the DWP. Now, I'm concerned I might incur charges for that call! When I eventually contacted the DWP, they informed me that 0845 was their previous contact number, and that they have now switched to an 0800 number, which is free. Quite disappointed, to say the least!

I got a call on my mobile from what looked like a Falkirk number. When I called back, it got redirected and a man’s voice said I had to ring 0845 2371122 to get through. Knowing that number would cost me, I looked it up here and found loads of people are having the same issue. Nobody seems to want to sort it out, and it's worrying because vulnerable folks could get badly stung by this. It feels like someone’s just cashing in on it big time. BT really should step up and take charge, but then again, why would they when it’s so profitable for them?

Lately, I've been getting heaps of calls on my 845237 line from folks who reckon they're dialing Homebase. Apparently, some voice message is sending them to ring 845237 Ext 1122. It feels like a fresh twist on a scam to trap people into adding a (0) before the number. I've chatted with Homebase quite a few times about this, but they're stumped about what’s going on. Seems like these scammers have somehow managed to take over their number or something.

I received an email from a firm that seemed legitimate, so I decided to ring up 01204324320. To my surprise, I was instructed to call another number, 08452371122. It’s rather concerning-how do we ascertain whether these emails are genuine? I contacted British Telecom for guidance, but they were rather unhelpful, just directing me to look it up online myself. How frustrating!

Something odd happened today. After the call abruptly ended, I used 1471 to check the number and it showed as 014404421759856. I tried ringing it back out of curiosity, and a recorded voice directed me to call 0845 2371122. I normally avoid any 08 numbers, so I didn’t ring it, instead I searched online and found out it’s a scam. What’s worrying is that they’re now beginning with an 01 code to look more legit. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the original number.

Got a call from 01727588084 with someone acting like they were from Talk Talk. I ended the call straight away but then phoned the number back thinking it might actually be them. The phone rang quite a few times before a message came on telling me to call 08452371122 instead. I put the phone down and looked up the number online. Cheers to everyone who flagged this up - I won't be dialling that again!

Just got back and saw my answerphone flashing. Turns out 01409 599357 had left a message. Since I know a few mates around the 01409 code, I rang back. The call directed me to dial 0845 237 1122. That felt a bit dodgy to me, so I gave it a miss.

Twice today, a bloke rang me from an 01902 number saying we’d got a Chinese takeaway ready to pick up, which we never ordered. He was pretty aggressive and quite rude. My partner tried ringing back to find out which takeaway it was, but nobody picked up - just some automated voice telling us to ring 0845 2371122. Good job I searched that 0845 number online before doing anything else!

If you get calls from this number, don’t waste your time trying to get help from BT. They told me it was my own mistake for calling a number I didn’t know, even though it was totally unintentional. I’m going to keep an eye on my phone bill, and if I see any dodgy charges turning up, I’ll report it to Action Fraud and the police if I can show it’s a scam.

Watch out, this one’s dodgy. They ring you from what looks like a normal local number, then tell you to ring an 0845. You wait forever on the line and no one ever picks up. Meanwhile, you're footing the bill for the call, and they’re making money from it. Total scam.

Someone rang me but didn't say who they were. When I tried calling back on my mobile, a message came on saying I should ring this other number to get through. Feeling worried something serious might be wrong, I called the number and waited, but nobody connected me. I tried the original mobile again and got the same message, so I just hung up and drove over to check my friend was alright. She had no clue about any of it, and I could call her directly from my phone no problem. I'm baffled how these scammers managed to get onto my landline to pull a stunt like this!

i got told to ring 08452371122 after i dialled a number beginning with 01428, just like the one described here. i haven’t rung this private number for years, so it felt odd getting redirected like that. when i tried to call, there was no ringing sound, just some crackling and then silence. i phoned from my landline so not sure if there’ll be a charge for it or not.

I phoned a local 0287 number and both a man and a woman advised me to ring this 0845 number. Im not sure if its a scam or not, as calls to these numbers dont count towards my included minutes. Just want to find out whats going on.
