I recently received a call from this number (I’m on Vodafone) claiming it was a public service message. They asked me to press 1 if I’d been in a car accident. I’m quite confident that our number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so I’m baffled as to how these callers managed to get hold of it in the first place!

I recently received a call from this number (on Vodafone), which was quite curious. They mentioned something about a public announcement regarding road traffic incidents and urged me to press 1 if I had been involved in one. We swiftly hung up on them. Additionally, I've been inundated with texts recently, asking if I'm interested in a payday loan. One could presume that my number has been entered onto some dodgy website or other. Just to clarify, I’m not employed as I’m currently a full-time student!

We've been getting calls from this number on our T-Mobile, and honestly, the best move is just to block them on your phone. Once you do that, all their calls will land straight in voicemail without fail. And trust me, they won’t bother leaving a message at all! The alternative would be to trawl through some websites to try and get your number removed from their directory, but that can be a right faff and often doesn't yield any results. Quite the nuisance, if you ask me!

I’ve just received an automated call urging me to press 1 regarding some so-called accident we supposedly had. Quite strange, considering we haven't been in any mishap at all! The call referenced issues with our 'ring', whatever that means, but the moment I tried to call back, there was no dial tone. How odd! I’m with Orange, yet I keep getting these texts offering to help with debts or compensations for accidents that simply don’t exist. Are we really left to fend for ourselves against such nonsense?

I received a rather odd call with a "Public Announcement" alert stating we were involved in a car accident and urging us to press "1." Given that we haven't had any mishaps, we ignored it. Shortly thereafter, the caller claimed they were experiencing some issues with their connections. Is this some sort of scam? And if so, who’s orchestrating it? I'm with Orange, just so you know.

Absolutely the same situation! I just received a call that mirrors yours. I'm with Tmob as well, and it feels like one of those 'no win, no fee' companies trying to pull a fast one on unsuspecting folks. Quite unacceptable, I must say!
