However, when I requested his surname to confirm his identity with Barclays, he abruptly ended the call. The individual on the other end purporting to be from Barclays claimed that my account had raised some alarms due to a recent login attempt. He proceeded to ask me for a verification code from my banking app, which I'd previously needed to transfer my account to a different device. When I explained that I'd been locked out of my app after several unsuccessful login attempts, he became rather annoyed, even going so far as to call me disobedient. The call took a turn for the worse as he resorted to swearing and seemed to know my address. The person ringing seemed to have loads of my details - card number, my phone number, name and even the town I live in.
