This number, along with other 0845 variants, rings me around 4 or 5 times a week on my mobile. The calls last maybe a couple of seconds before they just cut off. If I do manage to pick up, all I get is silence for a moment before it disconnects.

It’s definitely one of those scam calls. They use automated systems to ring you and hope you call back, which ends up costing roughly 65p a minute. And trust me, once you call back, you’ll probably be stuck listening to recorded messages or waiting ages to speak to anyone.

I’ve always wondered why no-one like OFCOM cracks down on this, but I guess there’s some kind of money involved to keep it running.

Why call it a scam? If these were genuine calls from a real company, why bother with a premium 0845 number instead of a free 0800 or a standard 03 number? It’s obvious this is just a con.

I picked up the phone and this robotic voice told me my number was all registered, verified and confirmed. They said someone would get back to me soon enough.
