Received a call from this number and decided to ring it back. All I got was some tedious hold music and a message saying I was in the queue. Yet, there was no information about who was on the other end or what they actually wanted. After about twenty seconds of waiting, I hung up in frustration. They’re welcome to try and contact me again if they’re legit!

So, they left us a voicemail suggesting that these folks were trying to reach us regarding some private banking matter and instructed us to get back to them during office hours. However, they didn’t provide any name of the company or a specific person to contact. Just a rather vague reference of "B for Bravo and T for Tango." Honestly, could mean anything really!

Hello Barry, just a quick message. Since you're working over at HBOS, if that call was the real deal, it'd be helpful if you could ask the scam unit to properly identify themselves. We received a similar sort of call not long ago. Cheers!

I got a message on my phone saying that some individuals were calling about private banking and mentioned to refer to B for Bravo and T for Tango. There was no indication of who was making the call or what it was concerning. It was only after we looked up the 0845 number that we realised it belonged to HBOS.

Received a call on our home phone, and a woman left a voicemail mentioning something about our personal banking issues. She advised us to return the call between Tuesday and Friday from 9 to 9, and on Saturdays from 9 to 5. However, she didn’t specify which organisation she was from or the purpose of her call. Quite dubious if you ask me!

I recently received a call from someone who mentioned a ring of some sort, and they referred to an account ending with 2772. The thing is, we don't have any sort of financial dealings-no credit cards, loans, or mortgages with that number at all! Could this have been a bit of a scam?

Absolute dodgy lot, I reckon. Even when you don't pick up, they simply carry on without any proper report or clarification about who they even are. What a shambles!

Beware, everyone! I had a rather dodgy experience with this number. When I tried to call, the individuals on the other end were rather vague and refused to mention the name of their company. Definitely feels like a scam to me!

Gave us a bell wanting us to ring them back during proper office hours regarding a "private banking issue." They were rather insistent that they weren't peddling any services. What struck me as a bit peculiar was their request for a reference number ZS. Seemed a bit dodgy, if I'm honest. They didn't disclose which company they were representing, which left us feeling a bit uneasy. It definitely felt like an unusual call, leading us to check up the number online afterwards, much like others have shared here.

Quite dodgy, isn't it? Caroline ringing up regarding some personal matters? The line was filled with all sorts of noise - chattering, clinking glasses, and a general buzz. Definitely raises some eyebrows!

I received one of those calls and decided to ring the number back. Instead of being greeted by someone, I was met with hold music, accompanied by a message saying I was in a queue. However, there was no indication of who I was talking to or what the call was about. After about twenty seconds, I lost interest and hung up. If this is a legitimate matter, they’re more than welcome to try reaching me again.

I’m part of the fraud investigation unit over at HBOS, and I’m currently reviewing some recent balance transfers on your HBOS credit card.

We’re all part of the same team at HBOS plc, and I want to clarify that under the Data Protection Act, it was rather unwise to disclose my location during the call. I understand how this might appear a bit dodgy, especially if someone else answers the message. However, my sole intention is to prioritise the security of my clients. Cheers for your understanding!

Message for Barry: When you're handling matters for HBOS and if this call was indeed legitimate, could you let the scam team know they ought to introduce themselves properly? We received a similar sort of call just the other day.

Legitimate anti-scam team associated with HBOS. They refrain from disclosing any bank names to maintain security, yet possess comprehensive details regarding recent transactions. Rest assured, they will promptly validate this information upon request.

Had a call from someone claiming to be 'Pamela from Halifax Private Banking', citing ref OHCFM. The chap sounded quite hurried. We've had a similar call previously, so we decided to look up the number and stumbled upon this site. Thank goodness we did!

I received a call regarding private banking, but they failed to identify themselves or the institution. They’ve left a message asking me to return the call with a reference number. It's rather disappointing, as one would expect a proper introduction when dealing with such matters. Surely, it’s standard practice for businesses to make themselves known!

Received a call from a chap wanting us to ring back during office hours regarding a "private banking issue". They were quite insistent that they weren’t trying to sell us anything. Oddly enough, they requested that we mention reference ZS, which seemed rather peculiar. Curiously, there was no indication of which company he was representing, making it all the more unsettling. It felt rather unusual, prompting us to hop online afterwards to search for the number, just as many others have done here as well.

Halifax, through the Bank of Scotland's scam prevention department, is doing a commendable job!

My partner received a call from this number earlier today. They didn’t specify which bank they were representing. After she called back, they declined to provide any information. We’ve been advised to ring the number on the reverse of her HBOS card, and upon doing so, the people there confirmed it's indeed their scam prevention team. It raises a valid point, though; why wouldn’t they just clarify which bank they were associated with in the first place?
