In recent days, we've received numerous calls from the number 08451170035. Each time our answering machine picks up, the caller disconnects immediately. If we try to engage in conversation, the line gets cut off almost instantly. Strangely, when we don’t respond at all, it remains silent until we eventually say something, at which point the call drops again. The last three instances occurred on the following dates: 28th August at 14:55, 1st September at 11:20, and 3rd September at 13:25.

I've received five calls from this lot recently. Each time, they hang up as soon as I answer. I even missed a call while out collecting some equipment, and they didn’t bother to leave a message. It’s quite baffling what they’re after since they refuse to engage in conversation. I'm really not interested in returning their calls. I might give the Telephone Preference Service a go; it has worked wonders on my fax line before.

Every time I answer, the line goes silent. Turns out it’s a company linked to the CPP card protection scheme. I’ve now blocked the number. For those who want to avoid these bothersome calls, give the Phone Preference Service a ring at 0800 398 893. There’s no fee involved either!

We've been receiving calls from these folks trying to push insurance deals related to our card shop, Burtons. We managed to cut the conversation short before it went any further, and we asked them to ensure we don't get bothered by any more calls. Fingers crossed that's the last we hear from them!

Received a call earlier today where the line went dead as soon as I answered. If CindyT is correct and it’s indeed CPP, it appears these folks are involved in card protection insurance. CPP, as I understand it, refers to Card Protection Plan.

We received a call at 5:20 AM this afternoon, which clearly is rather unusual. After we managed to shake off our sleepiness, the call was already terminated. We swiftly dialled 1471 to trace the number, only to discover that they had rung but left no voicemail whatsoever. Concerned it might be urgent, we decided to return the call, only to find out it was just a telesales racket! It seems they either have a major flaw in their automated system or terribly misguided staff who lack the common sense to mention the timing. Upon calling them back, there was an option to remove our number from their listings, so I suppose I’ll just sit tight and see if that actually puts a stop to their calls.

We're getting the same annoying calls over and over. It's absolutely maddening. When these telemarketers ring us up, why on earth don't they speak straight away? It baffles me! Honestly, we have no intention of returning their calls just to ask them to remove us from their list. Why would we waste our money on that? I can't shake the feeling that there's something dodgy about it-these people seem to profit off folks like us when we try to reclaim our own information. One has to wonder how these scam artists manage to rake in cash from the unsuspecting public. It’s the ordinary citizens who end up with naught but frustration while they line their pockets.

I received a call at precisely 5:27pm today that startled us terribly, especially since my partner is out for the night. As soon as I answered, the line went completely silent. I then called 1471, and similar to what someone else mentioned, I pressed 1 to have my number removed from their records. However, after sharing my details, I'm left wondering if this might be a scheme to start bombarding me with calls! I’ve also signed up with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS).
