Got a call from this number as some sort of reminder, like 11 hours after the engineers had been. Totally pointless call and honestly, made it riskier for me to get up and answer. Added it to my nuisance list now!

Got another call saying it's British Gas even tho we just had our boiler serviced last week. I'm reckonin I'll check out BG on Twitter for more info. For now, I've just labelled it as unknown.

26/06/18. Got a call around 7.10pm from an automated voice claiming to be British Gas, telling me to press 1, which I ignored. Unlike others, we already had our service done a few days back and don't need any more calls from them. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.

I received a call on 5th May 2018 from an individual representing themselves as British Gas or Scottish Gas. However, it's worth mentioning that I have no affiliations with either of these companies and I don't have any scheduled service appointments. In fact, I don't even have a boiler or central heating system. Consequently, whoever made the phone call can kindly take a hike. I have blocked their number accordingly.

I didn’t pick up the call but I’m not linked to British Gas at all, I don’t even own a boiler or any central heating and definitely don’t have any bookings or visits arranged. Though when my phone line was installed a couple of years ago, BT assigned me the number that belonged to a couple who stopped using their landline. Judging by the amount of calls I get meant for them, it’s probably meant for that previous owner.

Got a missed call from this number, found it on 1471, said they called at 5.30 in the morning! Like a few others, we’re waiting for a British Gas engineer to come in a few days, so maybe related to that? Still, why not just leave a proper message? Nothing on 1571 either.

Got a call saying "Hi, this is an automated message from British Gas, press 1 for details". I pressed 1 but then it just cut off without saying anything. Funny thing is, we’ve actually got a boiler check booked in a couple of days.

Got a call from this number - its an automated message from BG Service just to check your appointment. Everything seems legit. Don't pay attention to the people saying its a scam. If you have a BG engineer booked, you'll likely get a call from them a couple days before the visit. If you happen to miss the call and try to ring back, you might end up speaking to a BG call centre that doesn’t seem to know about these automated messages, which is a bit frustrating but not your fault. So yeah, this is a genuine automated alert from British Gas.

I do have a BG Service arranged in the next few days - but it’s really annoying, no message left at all!!! When the answerphone picks up - hello!!! We don’t answer unknown numbers! So if you’re not gonna leave a message - why bother calling!? It just feels like harassment! My advice? If British Gas is calling customers with updates - leave a message! It’s not hard! Makes life easier - no fuss, no stress. Keep it simple, simple!

Upon inspection, it appears that the number in question is an outdated British Gas number that is no longer in use by the company. It begs the question, are individuals of questionable competence handling telephone access?

On 15th of July 2017, at 2:00 PM, I answered a phone call. A voice instructed me to press 1 to listen to a message. After following the instruction, the call abruptly ended. It appears that some individuals with a lack of valuable activities are behind such nonsense. They are so foolish that they're spending money on pointless calls. It's plausible that the person responsible has the emotional maturity of a three-year-old, but lacks even the basic understanding one would expect from a toddler.

Got a voicemail from this number around 3pm telling me to press 1 to listen to the message. Bit odd, why wouldn't they just leave the full message like a normal voicemail? It immediately felt dodgy so I rang 1471 to find out the number. Looks like loads of others have flagged it too as a spam or suspicious call.

I got a call from this number on 24.6.17, they left me a message but it was completely silent! Apparently, it’s linked to BT 1571 and showed up as British Gas Service, which is odd because I do have a service coming up soon. The real number to arrange a service is 0800 2949678. No legit caller would just leave a silent message, so I’m treating this as suspicious.

At 9:00am today, on 11 February, I received a phone call from this particular number. When I attempted to return the call, a voice informed me that this number used to belong to British Gas, but it is no longer in use by them. I thought they might be trying to get in touch with me regarding my upcoming appointment next week for servicing. I contacted Scottish Gas enquiries and they informed me that this number is used for automated messages to remind people of their servicing appointments. However, I didn't receive any message. I mentioned that the automated message system seems to be malfunctioning. I will report this issue to the gas technician who is scheduled to visit next week.
