I received a rather dubious call from a firm purporting to assist me in claiming compensation due to my bank reportedly increasing my credit card limit without my consent, which they asserted was unlawful. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the company, but the individual handling my case had an Asian accent and introduced herself as Jenney Jones. She provided a contact number for them too. They inquired about the bank linked to my credit card and its expiration date, but I chose not to disclose accurate details. They lured me in with the enticing prospect of securing £2500 in compensation. I was told that within a couple of days, they'd dispatch the necessary legal documentation my way, and all I would need to do was sign forms 5 and 6 before sending them back to initiate the claims process. Their proposed cut of the compensation for their services would be a tidy 2.5%. Then came the kicker - they requested a £249.99 upfront deposit, which they insisted I should pay using my credit card and to provide my credit card information. When I expressed my reluctance to hand over my credit card details, they claimed that it wasn't me footing the bill, but rather my bank. As I reiterated my refusal to share my card information, the call was promptly ended. It seems likely that this phone operation raked in quite a bit of coin from the call time spent on the line with these scammers!
