Didn’t see it coming with Shore Claims. They took £80 through Direct Debit but luckily my bank believed me when I said it was a scam under the Direct Debit Indemnity and gave me the money back straight away. Definitely worth a shot!

Just realised my elderly mum got tricked into giving her card info and ended up paying this lot £80. The letter they sent back saying they couldn’t get the money refunded mentions something about asking how much she paid for her house and when she bought it. Thing is, she lives in a council house, so she wouldn’t have been able to answer that! To make matters worse, my dad has dementia and they’re trying to check if they qualify for a discount, which probably caused the mix-up. Fingers crossed they don’t lose any more cash.

These lot have been pushing products on my elderly grandma for about half a year now, and from what I can tell, they’re also passing her info to other dodgy companies. She ended up with a direct debit for some kind of cover she doesn’t even understand, but the salespeople were so smooth and acted like they’d spoken to her before that she foolishly believed them. Now she’s lost hundreds of pounds. Don’t answer the phone to these people!! It’s a total con!!!

Got the paperwork through but then changed my mind about going through with it, so I gave the main office a ring and they sorted the cancellation for me. Not sure about the scam claims? Was a bit anxious after reading those comments but everything seemed fine to me and they were really helpful.

A very polite woman phoned my father-in-law earlier today. She said the charge has jumped up to £80 now. From what I can tell, these are all unsolicited calls and definitely not lawful. I reckon the Ministry of Justice would want to look into this.

Shore Claims Ltd seems to be targeting old people, charging them £65 every single time. I couldn't find any proof that they actually helped anyone get money back. Also, the good reviews here look like they come from the company themselves! The boss is Alistair James Howell, 31 years old, living at 10 Windmill Drive, Tangmere, Chichester, PO20 2AP. If anyone’s mum or dad’s been duped by these lot, maybe you should pop round and have a word. I’ll be sharing this info everywhere I can.

A bloke rang me about my council tax band possibly going down. I was chuffed! They asked for some of my info but I was cautious. I rang the number he gave and everything seemed legit. Thankfully got my info in the post. Waiting to hear about this so called win now. Honestly, I’d say my council are a bit dodgy since they never told me about any of this! I’m paying a fortune to them for what exactly?

Got a call last week from a bloke called Jack about getting back some council tax I might've paid too much. He was really nice and explained everything properly. I don’t get why there’s so many bad reviews or the stuff about them only ringing older folks. I’m 48 and wouldn’t say that’s old by any means.

Got a call from Jenna, she was really nice. The number she gave me was 03003034570 along with their full address and a MOJ number. She told me I MIGHT be incorrectly banded and said there’s a £65 charge for their service. I can see why some might be suspicious but it doesn’t seem like a scam to me since I have the documents and I even phoned to double-check. Pretty pleased with how they handled it and hoping I get some outcome because I do think my banding could be wrong.

I’ve been checking this out because a pair of really old folks I care for have both had calls from this firm in the past few days. One lives in a big six-bedroom house, the other in a council flat. It’s made them both quite anxious and they asked me what I thought. To me, even if it’s not technically against the law, it feels like a scam aimed at vulnerable elderly people.

A firm phoned my 88-year-old father-in-law claiming they could reduce his council tax band and offer a refund. Thankfully, my mother-in-law noticed him sharing his card details and put a stop to it. They’ve checked with the bank and luckily the £65 admin fee hasn’t been taken. It’s really upsetting that these kind of calls prey on elderly people. They did receive some paperwork in the post, but it’s just been put away and not dealt with!

My cousin, who has a disability, got a call from Shore Valuations saying they could lower her council tax. She ended up paying them £65 but now can’t get that money back. There’s a form dated 4.10.16 for her to sign, which I’m holding onto and I’ve told them I won’t sign it as Power Of Attorney. I’ve sent them a letter but haven’t heard anything back. I reckon this company are total con artists. They spoke loads about lowering council tax and said it might save me up to £7,000. They were so persuasive that I actually believed them, and I’m normally really careful with these things. Once I started to suspect it was a scam, I remembered the chat and realised I never gave them my card’s security code. Now I’m worried if they can still somehow take money from my bank without that number. I didn’t think that was even possible.

Got a call from someone named Samantha at Shore Valuations about my council tax re-banding. She gave me a reference number and a phone number to ring back. After hanging up, I got a bit suspicious and contacted the Council. They told me any re-banding would only be handled by them. Then I checked with my bank and saw a £65 charge had already been taken. The number she gave me was 0300 303 4570.

Michelle from Shore Valuation, phone number 03003034570, said she was representing the Ministry of Justice and claimed my business could reclaim council tax overpayment due to being in the wrong band. I fell for it (what a daft mistake!). I gave them my card details so they could take £65 for ‘admin fees’. Deep down I knew something was off, so I rang my bank straight away. Luckily, no money had been taken out. They’re sending me a new card now. You learn from these things, but it’s an expensive lesson.

Hi, my mum got a call from someone claiming to be from Shore Valuations, similar to what others mentioned here, saying they could help reduce her council tax band. Got a call from this number, I would have gladly paid the £65 charge to find out my proper band. The only reason I didn’t was that they told me straight up "YOU ARE in the wrong band and we can get it reduced". If they had been honest and said something like "YOU MAY be in the wrong band and COULD possibly help you get a refund" then I would’ve gone for it. This lot clearly don’t care about following the rules properly.

Totally a rip off, this number phones up saying your council tax band is wrong and they need payment to look into it. If you think your band is off, just call the Valuation Office on 03000 501501, they do it free. Never hand over your bank info to these con artists.

I don’t get why this company has loads of bad reviews? They rang my mum back in Feb last year and even though it took a while, they actually got her council tax dropped from band D to band C! Every time we phoned up to check how things were going, the women in the office were really helpful and polite. Mum ended up getting a refund of £3,657.62 from the council, so my folks were really chuffed with what they did! We’ve even told a neighbour, who was in the same band as my mum, to give them a try.

My partner got a call from someone called Michelle. She was saying she could get us a refund and all that, just like other people on here have mentioned. She only wanted our bank account details, not card info. I came in halfway through and thought it sounded a bit dodgy, so I googled and found this website. After that, we rang the bank, who told us the worst these scammers can do is set up a direct debit. Luckily, nothing has been taken so far and the bank is keeping an eye on our account now. Stay clear of these lot, they got me about 2 or 3 weeks ago, charging me £65. My bank checked it out and told me I had 14 days to cancel, which I did. But they said the investigation was already underway and refused to give me a refund. It was their word against mine, and they also said my council tax band couldn’t be lowered. Then, out of nowhere, someone from them called this arvo about the same issue, pretending they knew nothing about calling me before. I just ended the call. They must be raking it in, absolute scammers.

Call from 0844 800 94261, couldn't catch her name properly. When they asked for my bank info, I said what I always do, "Please send me a letter, I have hearing difficulties and don't do business over the phone." She stayed really calm and agreed that you have to be careful nowadays. The letter arrived today. Since I now had a phone number and a clear name, I looked them up on Google and found your site. What worries me is that after the call, I emailed my local council to check if this was legit, and I haven't had any reply yet.

Now she’s getting loads of nasty calls and letters harassing her. My mum’s in really bad health with heart failure, and these people are threatening to “take her to court and send bailiffs to seize her stuff. Got a call from a guy named Alan saying I'm in band C but should be in band B, and they’d backdate a refund all the way to 1991. He asked for the long number on my card. I told him no, but he kept pushing. I just ended the call.
