I’m registered with TotalJobs (www.totaljobs.com) in pursuit of contract work, and recently I got an email about PPI claims that made me curious enough to look into it, thinking it would be a trustworthy connection. For a few weeks, I was bombarded with pestering phone calls on both my mobile and home line, with the callers hanging up the moment I picked up. It's odd because I rarely disclose both numbers, but their online form insisted on it. After some time, I decided to google 08447044755 and discovered it to be a nuisance. So, when I saw that number pop up on my mobile again, I decided to block it. Just a short while later, the same persistent number (that had been bothering me for weeks) called again, and lo and behold, it was the PPI Advice Line, trying to coax me into revealing my bank details. A packet arrived in the mail from them today, featuring their address: Unit 4, The Courtyard, Midpoint, Bradford, BD3 7AY. They included their [email protected] registration number 06780340, VAT registration number 107385811, and they claim to be registered with the Ministry of Justice as CRM21579. The pesky number was always 08447044755, but I noticed today another number, 02070609336, tried to contact me as well. I came across a complaint stating someone returned a call to the premium rate number and their line was locked for an hour and a half! I do wonder if that’s how ‘PPI Adviceline’ is trying to rake in the profits... My suspicion is they’ve obtained phone numbers from registration details, which might explain why so many appear to be on the TPS and still get harassed by these leeches. If you share your number, it seems TPS won’t be much help. I hope this info proves useful to someone! :)

Today, I had a call from this number and chatted with a lad named Christopher. He was rather charming and courteous, mentioning he was contacting me on behalf of USwitch about energy providers. I responded in kind, being civil and amiable, but I had no plans of taking him up on any of his proposals as I prefer to do my own research on energy companies online. I share the frustration many feel towards unsolicited calls and truly hope that telecom firms can devise a method to intercept these calls before they reach us.

This number rang me at about 2pm, and the person on the other end somehow already had my name. I cut them off before they could say more, telling them straight away they didn't have my consent to call and to remove my info in accordance with the Data Protection Act. The caller just rudely told me to get lost. Honestly, they’re not just irritating but downright rude. I’ve since blocked this number on my iPhone.

A number, 08448588082, just called me and there was this pre-recorded message saying it was from HBOS and Halifax. They wanted me to press 5 to talk about a refund they claimed I was owed. When I did, they started asking questions about loans and credit cards, then mentioned something about PPI and said they’d connect me to someone who could help. Felt dodgy straight away so I ended the call. They’ve phoned me three more times in the last ten minutes. Anyone know how I can report or get this number checked out?

I've been getting calls nonstop from 08452863313. Like others, I hit 9 to opt out, and guess what? The calls actually ramped up. Today I lost it and let the guy Simon on the line have it with about 30 cheeky insults, telling him to find a real job. He cut me off saying, "One moment, sir, I’ll ring you back," and surprise, surprise, he called back from 08447044755. I didn’t hold back and kept giving him what for. Then he says, "Don’t worry, sir, I’ve got your address and I'll be seeing you soon," and promptly hung up. Now that I’ve got their address too, we’ll see who’s turning up first…
