My missus borrowed my mobile to buy a few plants but, turns out, they never showed up. She was stuck on the phone with them for ages. I wasn’t aware at the time, but EE texted me afterwards saying calls beyond my allowance cost £12.75 plus VAT. When I called them to sort it out, they explained that 0844 numbers are actually premium rate. Had a word with my wife who had been on the phone to some place called Thompson or something like that.

If you want to order plants from Thompson and Morgan, this is the number you need to call. The first time I rang, it just kept ringing and I never got through, but they still took 20p off me. When I finally managed to connect on a second attempt, it cost me £1.36. It looks like every Thompson and Morgan customer is getting stung like this. It feels like a sneaky way to rip people off.
