With caller ID in place, I tend to avoid answering unfamiliar numbers and usually let them get routed to my voicemail. That's precisely what I did when this particular number rang me today at 13:10. If either my wife or I happen to answer, we simply hang back, waiting for the other end to say something; more often than not, they just hang up - occasionally, you can catch snippets of call centre banter in the background. When the call appears to be from overseas, we sometimes feign that we can't hear a word; they seem to lose interest pretty quickly. Has anyone had any thoughts on those call-blocking devices? We've noticed that a lot of these pesky calls tend to flood in between 11 am and 3 pm; however, I fell victim to one around 9 pm last night, when a woman with a perfect RP accent began droning on about PPI.
