My mother received a call from someone who bore an uncanny resemblance to a "mug" on 17th April 2010. They somehow acquired his birth details. Once he shared what had transpired, we became quite alarmed and suggested he check his bank statements and swiftly cancel his card, which he promptly did. Has anyone had any luck retrieving the documents? Has anyone suffered a loss exceeding £79.99?

We really got caught out by this and can't help but feel a bit daft for being so naive. It’s infuriating to think we handed over our banking details to a bunch of crooks. We've since cancelled our debit card, but it’s frustrating that they’ve managed to get their hands on so much of our personal information. The moment we shared those details, we just knew it was a terrible mistake. Cheers, Heather from Edinburgh.

We've encountered something rather like this. When an offer appears too good to be genuine, it often turns out to be a ruse. As soon as they started requesting personal details, we knew something was off. We also reached out to our bank and promptly had our card cancelled to prevent any further issues.

I received a call earlier today that was exactly like the one mentioned below. We declined to share any personal details, yet these individuals kept ringing us back as soon as we hung up, insisting that we must be quite daft for not realising we could potentially be owed between £800 and £900, or possibly even more! They seemed to have quite a lot of information, claiming we hold an account with Northern Bank and possess a Maestro card. We’ve decided to pop into our bank on Tuesday to ensure that these callers don’t have any further information about our account. The name of the representative we spoke to was David Austin, and their identification was kp01331.

It’s quite evident that this dubious operation is still in action, especially since they’ve managed to replicate their previous tactics. We were taken aback upon discovering a staggering £700 worth of fraudulent charges, particularly as we don’t even bank with Lloyds TSB. The representative specifically asked which bank should receive the funds, and since we’ve never had an account with Barclays, we mentioned it anyway. To our surprise, she promptly began reciting a Barclaycard number for me to note down and supposedly complete the transaction. It’s clear that these individuals possess some degree of insider information, potentially sourced from a credit referencing agency.

We encountered a situation that was eerily similar. When something appears to be too fantastic to be genuine, it's often a ruse - and this was no exception, especially given that they requested your personal details. We took the precautionary measure of reaching out to our card provider and had our card blocked immediately.

On the 17th of April 2010, our mother received a call from this number, which strikingly resembles the word ‘mug’. We’re genuinely uneasy as they somehow acquired his date of birth. Following a detailed account of the situation, we suggested he keep a close eye on his bank statements and swiftly cancel his card, which he went ahead and did. Has anyone received any documentation regarding this? Additionally, has anyone found themselves out of pocket by more than £79.99?

I received a call from these individuals who followed precisely the same routine. We tried returning the call but no one picked up. In our quest to track down the company name they mentioned, we came up completely empty-handed. Consequently, we promptly picked up the phone to cancel our card.

Blimey, we've been inundated with phone calls lately! Honestly, these callers are so aggressive and rude, despite us making it clear that we're not interested. There's no such thing as a free lunch, right? The moment you come across those advertisements, just steer clear; they're nothing but trouble and will likely con you. Cheers, Jane.

I received a call from this number as well, and they assured me that no charges would occur. However, that's not the case, as I've since seen an unexpected transaction go through. I've had to take the precaution of cancelling my card to prevent any further deductions. Quite the nuisance!

I’ve encountered a similar issue myself. They assured me that there wouldn't be any charges, but lo and behold, money was deducted! I’ve since cancelled my card because they had access to all my personal details. Thankfully, my bank is looking into the matter and will refund me for the unauthorised transaction.
