Earlier today, on the 26th of February 2010, I received a call and they disconnected as soon as I answered.

This number reached out to our mobile, but the caller hung up rather quickly after a brief ringing. We ended up with a missed call on our end. Thinking it might be a client, we decided to return the call only to be greeted by a pre-recorded message asking us to hold. It took about half a minute before it dawned on us that it was likely some sort of scam. Best to steer clear of this one!

I received a call from this number, but as soon as they realised I picked up, they hung up. I won't be calling back, and I recommend you don't either. Best to store this number in your contacts as "Hang Up" so you can easily identify it next time around!

Received a call but by the time we could answer, the other party seemed to have disconnected. We tried ringing back to discover who it was, but all we got was a robotic voice instructing us to hold while they attempted to connect. The call sounded just like any regular ring, yet it appeared to have already been linked, leading us to suspect it might be costing us for that initial alert. Consequently, we ended the call. We haven't shared our mobile number with anyone except close friends and family, so we’re completely baffled as to who or what this could possibly be.

Earlier today, we received a rather suspicious phone call, and as soon as we picked up, they hung up on us. When we called back, we were told to hold for a connection, which felt a bit dodgy. Not long after, our home phone rang, and it was someone claiming to be from a bank we’ve never associated with, asking us to confirm our date of birth. To top it off, over the past fortnight, we’ve been dealing with a scam regarding something we’ve got listed on eBay. Shortly after that, we received fraudulent emails purporting to be from eBay and PayPal, asking us to dispatch the item and give more information about payment. PayPal confirmed it was all a scam. I’m genuinely worried about all this!

I had the same experience; I returned the call only to discover it’s some sort of credit management service. I’ve got no clue when they might bill me for this call. I was rather direct with them, insisting they wipe our details from their database, or else we’d be reaching out to our lawyer.
