just got my phone bill and was stunned to see a call charge of £18, looked up the number 08444933399 turns out it was Avios for booking a hotel in Blackpool, they left me on hold for more than half an hour before finally picking up, imma gonna cancel all my accounts that earn Avios points, airmiles were way better (Watch out)

I rang Avios as my membership number wasn’t being accepted when I tried to book a flight with points. I had already asked via email but got conflicting advice, so it still didn’t go through. Turns out my number wasn’t working because they’re updating their system. Finding this out ended up costing me £17. I don’t recall any warning about the call charges at the beginning of the call, which I think they really ought to do. I’m reluctant to call again though, as it’ll probably end up costing me even more.

Tried calling Avios a couple of times as their site wouldn't let me use my points. Both times got stuck waiting and no one picked up, spent almost 47 mins in the queue and it ended up costing me £10.41. Feeling stuck now, don't wanna just lose my points, it took me ages to save them up!

Called to sort a booking and ask about switching to the British Airways Executive Club. Tried to book online but couldn’t because our joint account got split into separate ones. Had to pay more since I couldn’t do it online, and now got a £24 phone bill for calls I thought were just normal standard rates.

I phoned this number myself to check on some new AVIOS points I was missing. Their website said it would cost 7p a minute on my landline, but I ended up with a £2.07 charge even though no-one answered. That would mean nearly half an hour on the line, and I’m certain I didn’t stay that long. I usually don’t hold for that long, not even on a free 0800 number. So, I reckon it must cost more than 7p per minute. I might post an update if I ever get the points sorted, hopefully without having to call this number again.

Was trying to figure out why I got charged for a new BA executive account set up by AVIOS. Paid 14.8p a minute and ended up being told AVIOS couldn’t help, had to ring BA instead. Glad it only came to 90p in the end though.

If Avios expect you to pay that much just to phone them, they really should improve their customer service. Like, picking up the phone way faster instead of making you wait forever on hold, or maybe offering a call-back option. But I guess if they did that, they wouldn’t make as much cash, and that’s probably why they don’t bother.

Absolute joke from Avios, which is basically British Airways. I called their only number to find out how to spend my points and ended up on hold for ages. Even worse, I called to report I couldn’t access my account, stayed on the line, and was told they'd fix the issue and call me back - but that’s never happened.
